Conor ran. Pushing himself as far as he could go, legs pumping faster and faster as the creature behind him drew nearer and nearer. How had his day gone from a nice morning of friends to a horrifying night running away from one of the monsters that lived in the town of Green Haven?

~~~~~~~~
Conor had strode into first day of school at Green Haven Highschool. Freshmen year felt like it was going to be interesting. His first year of Highschool, his first year being officially accepted into the monster orderly society. The name sounded odd but it was amazing, his family ran a group that kept the monster families hidden as a secret all the way back to 1789 when Green Haven was founded and built up.
He was excited that he's be helping out this year, he knew almost everything about every monster family and things about each monster.
Conor bounced his leg as he stood in line waiting to get his class schedule. He looked around to distract himself from the slow moving line. He stopped one of the Vampire family's son almost immediately. Devin Trunswick. He would be a freshmen this year too, though he had just displayed signs for his vampirism last year, after accidentally killing one of the family sheeps. Conor shivered at the thought, there was so much blood and Devin was puking in his bathroom for hours as they waited for the sun to go down for his parents to be safe enough to pick him up.
Devin looked a lot better now, hints of his new vampire traits showing. Slightly pointed years, pale skin, a red tint to his brown eyes. It was natural for vampires have a few traits showing with the more obvious ones were hidden well. His teeth were still human, his nails seemed to be shorter, his eyes were human. The thing about Devin's family was they weren't fully vampire, his grandmother on his father's side was a werepanther that had seeped its way into Devin's appearance. Small almost unnoticed traits, like all of Devin's teeth were fangs or his hair was a shade darker or the fact he had a tail that was looped into his pants belt loops.
Conor stepped up to the table as he finally got to the front of the line. The woman smiled at him "Last name, first name please," she said.
Conor smiled back "Macfenray, Conor," he said. The woman began filing through the lists, muttering his last name under her breath. She pulled out a pale green list "Here you go, enjoy your first day of Highschool sweetie," she said. Conor took his list with a little nod and walked off to one of the columns.
Macfenray, Conor, L.
2: Algebra 1 568
Conor stared at the list a little longer, maybe hoping the letters would reorder themselves. Having Dyslexia was not fun at all, if anything reading just became a little harder to do.
Conor folded his list and placed it in his pocket of his jacket, he'd try to decipher it later.
---------
Conor stretched out into his seat as he entered his last class of the day. He sat down next to a pale girl with black hair, a black girl with dark brown hair in braids, and a tan boy with brown hair. He smiled at them. Almost all his classes he had to sit with a monster family member but this time it was all humans.
Almost.
Conor smiled as another boy entered the class room and sat at a differenr table. He was slightly taller with blond hair and white skin, hidden by his hair was his ears. They were a little longer with points at the ends and his eyes were a pretty golden color. He was Shane Felinador, part of the elven family they were amazing. Conor also may or may not have a crush on Shane. He totally did.
The teacher stood from his chair "Hello class I'm Mr. Aik, but I'd prefer my students to call me Tarik," he said. He looked at the boy next to Conor "Except you, I can settle with Dad," he said.
The boy groaned as he covered his face, kids in the class chuckled at the comment.
Tarik nodded "Anyway, class I want you to look at the kids you are sitting with because these are the exact seats you will stay in and the same kids you will sit with, so I suggest you get comfortable and not start any drama with each other," he explained.
The class groaned but Conor didn't, he smiled "Hi I'm Conor," he greeted.
The black girl smiled "I'm Abeke, my family and I just moved in over summer," she said.
The pale girl smiled "I'm Meilin, I've lived here all my life," she said.
The teacher's son smirked "Rollan Angelo," he replied.
Conor kicked Rollan into the leg when he recognized the name. Angelo. ANGELo. Rollan was part of the WereAvians in town. Rollan stared at Conor "You okay?" He asked.
Conor nodded "Never better," he replied.
~~~~~~

Conor groaned as he hit the ground. He pushed up and looked at his leg, a small gash on his ankle as it stung from the thorns that had slashed him.

He stood up shaking as he began running away but his ankle let out a Symphony of pain.

A beast erupted from the forest, tackling Conor to the ground again. He screamed at the pain in his shoulder as it bit into his shoulder.

Conor kicked his legs up, smashing both feet into the beast's stomach. The gray furred beast howled as it's prey ran off again.

Conor pressed his hand to the wound as he ran home, crossing the fence to his backyard.

----------

The boy sat in bed as the thundering of his shoulder wound grew louder and louder. He was panting as he fought down the wave of pain and nausea that came with it. Something didn't feel right with him, not right at all.
