"Ugh, you won't believe what happened this summer," sabi ng isa sa mga nadaanan ko.
"What happened?" Tanong naman ng kasama niya.
"We only went to Japan! My dad promised me we'd go to France this summer, pero it was only Japan because he said na I look better with cherry blossoms as a background daw," sabi nung babae kanina, and I rolled my eyes.
Can't these people realise na hindi lahat ng people is nakakapunta sa other countries and they just have to be thankful na at least kahit na sa Asia lang is nakakapagtravel sila? Marami rin namang may gustong magpunta sa Japan, eh!
I rolled my eyes, as I went to my classroom. Here in Delcroix Academy, iba ang years ng schooling. You'll have to study five years of elementary, three years of middle school, and two years of high school before two years of college prep.
I'm on my second year of high school and to say na naeenjoy ko ang Delcroix? That's kind of the truth. Why? Kasi despite the never ending amount of brats here, marami rin namang mga mababait and fun activities dito. Marami ring clubs.
Once I reached Class 2-1, I slid the door open, and then went to the first row, where I would want to sit.
Sabi nila na those who sit sa front row is mga sipsip sa teacher, but I really have a different reason. I mean, hindi naman ako ganun kababaw para sumipsip sa teacher. Kaya gusto kong sa harap is because I want to see what it's like up front and what it's like na marinig ang lahat ng sinasabi ng teachers.
"Brielle, how's your summer?" I was startled nang may umupo sa seat sa likod ko, at kinausap ako. Narealise ko naman na it was only Romaine, na halatang bored lang kaya nagtanong and ayaw kumausap ng ibang tao.
The look on her face said so. Her headphones was even plugged in. Sinong hindi makakahalata?
"Hey, Romaine. Summer's fine. Parents are still the same. How about you?" I answered, since wala din naman akong magawa and the morning assembly doesn't start for another thirty minutes.
"Wait, were you talking to me?" Sabi niya, nakatingin sa akin, and removed her headphones. I knew it, wala lang talagang magawa kaya nagtanong 'yan.
"Yes, I was, indeed. Nagtatanong ka, eh. So, I answered." Sagot ko naman, and she smiled at me.
The truth is, I was one of Romaine's only friends. I mean, we don't really have any true friends here except for a few, kasi you may never know kung sino ang mga totoo. Pero I think that Romaine has some issues. I mean, nasabi na niya sa amin dati, pero she should be comfortable with us nalang.
"I'm sorry," sabi niya, at tumayo, na ikinagulat ko naman. Bakit tatayo 'to?
"Hey, why did you stand up?" Sabi ko, at nagsignal naman siya na tumayo din ako so I did.
"Tara sa labas," she said, and I followed her out.
Nasa second floor ang room namin, and gazing out to the first floor was fun. Or still is, I don't know.
Romaine still had her headphones with her, but it hung on her neck. She was wearing the school uniform like everyone here does, but she topped it off with a leather jacket as usual.
Our school uniform consists of a white long sleeved sailor style uniform with the colour blue as the collar and a line of red along with a red ribbon and blue skirt. Mukhang pang-animé siya, if someone were to ask me.
