I woke up the next morning extra early. 5:30 to be exact. I grabbed my running clothes and went of on the dirt road. I ran for 4 miles as fast and as hard as I could. I finally stopped and watched the sun rise above the hills, then I started heading back. The wheat on the sides of the road where comforting and the small breeze that blew sent chills down my spine.

I finally came to the house when I heard the fire alarm go off. My eyes widened and I sprinted inside. I walked in on Mark and Jack trying to make bacon and eggs. They turned around and looked at me.

"Morning," Jack said with a smile

'Morning," I replied.

" We tried to make you bacon and eggs but uh... didn't really work out." Mark said holding up the burnt eggs

I laughed and said" Okay, well let me teach you how to,"

"Yes, please do," Jack said smiling punching Mark in the shoulder. I stopped and looked at the oven, which was on high.

"First off the ovens on way too hot you need to put it down to like 3 or 4," I said to them both " Here get me a new pan, I said holding the one that was platted with burnt eggs to Jack.

"Alright thanks," I said as he gave me the new pan. " so first we put the eggs in then salt them and pepper them," I said " Then as soon as they are done on one side we flip it and do it on the other side,"

"Thanks Ev," The both said

After I was done helping the boys make breakfast, we all sat down around the ancient round table and ate our food. It was dead silent and no one talked.

Mark broke the silence ' I have to go into town today,"

"For what?" I asked, Jack still eating his eggs in silence

" A job interview," Mark replied. Both me and Jack looked up from our food.

"A job interview?" I questioned

"Uh... Ya" He said quietly

"Will you be working in town then?" Jack asked

"No, I'd still be working here same time and everything, just a different job," Mark said

"Oh well then what's the job?" I asked him

"Well, that's the thing I don't know yet, I heard it was something about experiments and stuff, and they said that I was far enough out that it would work," Mark said

I got a very weird and uncomfortable feeling about it.

"What type of experiments?" I asked. Jack looked back down at his food.

"Just like hair products and stuff I think," Mark replied. Relief came over me

"Okay, just don't bring in some crazy mutation," I said with a smile

"What time do you leave?" Jack asked. Mark looked down at his phone

"Shoot! Right now actually," Mark said running upstairs. I looked at Jack and he looked back at me

" We got the house to ourselves today I guess," I said
