I gripped my bloodied leg.
"Jack, keep cover," Mark said. He went normal and knelt next to me, "Are you okay?"
"Ya... I'm fine," I said, "Mark,"
"Yes, Ev?" Mark asked.
"I love you," I said. Tears filled his eyes.
"You're going to make it you'll be fine," He said panicking a bit. I looked down at my leg, My hand was covered in blood. My eyes rolled back in my head and I fell unconscious, Mark's voice drifting off into the distance.
I woke up alone, which was strange. I wasn't used to cold sheets. I always had Mark right next to me. I say up, the ache from my leg killing me. The door in the corner of the room opened and Reese came in.
"Hey Reese," I said. He looked concerned.
"Hey Ev, uh... Mark was shot," He said. I breathed in a bit. My heart started to beat a little faster and harder.
"I-is he okay? And what about Jack?" I asked, tears ripping my voice.
"Jack is fine. Mark should be..." Reese started.
"There is a difference between should be and is okay, Reese," I said, cutting him off.
"Let me finish, Ev," Reese said frustrated.
"Tell me if he's okay," I said.
"He should be," Reese said.
"Again with should," I said rolling my eyes.
"Ev, calm down," Reese said.
"Let me see him," I said, a tear started to roll down my cheek. I started to get out of the bed. Reese rushed to my side and pushed me back down onto the bed.
"You can't," he said.
"Reese, please," I said through a ocean of tears, " I need to know if he's okay,"
"You don't need to go see him, because he's going to see you," Reese said. A few seconds later Mark came into my room on crutches. He had bandages wrapped all around his abdomen.
"Mark..." I gasped. I got on my good knee on the edge of the mattress and embraced him. He held me so tightly.
"I thought I lost you," He whispered, through gasps of tears, "I couldn't live with myself if I did lose you,"
"You won't ever lose me," I said. I pulled out of the hug and held his face gently wiping the tears away from his cheeks. He smiled weakly at me then pulled me back into his arms. Reese helped him onto the empty side of the mattress. I cuddled close to him and fell asleep. I knew he was okay.
I woke up, still next to Mark. His breathing was so staggered and stressed. I think he thought that I wasn't next to him. I gently shook his shoulder to wake him.
"No, leave her alone..." He mumbled out in sleep.
"Mark, wake up," I said gently.
"I said leave her alone," He said with more anger.
"Mark!" I shook him once more. He woke up dark and wrapped his hand around my neck. I couldn't breath. I was scratching at his hand, giving the sign to let me go.
"You touch her you die!" He screamed at me. He went normal and let go of my neck. I took a deep breath in. Panting to get more air into my lungs. I stared at the ceiling.
"Ev! I'm sorry that wasn't me!" Mark said, looking over me.
"I-I'm fine," I said still in shock. I sat up and he pulled me into a hug. I weakly hugged him back.
"I was dreaming about you and I guess it got out of hand..." He started rambling. I shushed him.
"I'm fine," I whispered in his ear. He started to cry. I could feel his shaking body.
"I'm sorry..." He choked out.
"Mark, don't cry," I said pulling out of the hug and looking at him. His teary eyes met mine.
