"Mark..." I breathed out, "I can't move,"
"I know, you'll be okay," He said. His hands lifted my head up and set it on his lap. I breathed in and out heavily. I couldn't move, there were so many things I wanted to do. I let out a little whimper as tears filled my eyes. Everything started to hurt. It was the bacteria, again. I could tell. I screamed.
"Ev, What's wrong?" Mark said frantically, "Jake, what's going on with her?"
"They did that to me," Jack responded, " It's a type of bacteria that stings the inside of your veins, it's hell on earth,"
"How do you stop it?" Mark said at an angry yell.
"You don't it lasts at least five minutes, depending on the dosage," Jack replied
"Mark, look at the needle print," Jake said from the front seat, "Is there one or two," Mark leaned over me to look.
"Two," He replied
"Then it should last about ten minutes," Jake said. I could feel my fingers now. I clenched my hand into a fist. I squeezed my eyes shut.
"Mark... Help me!" I whimpered
"Jake! What do I do?!" Mark yelled.
"Distracted her, it won't do much, but at least it's something," Jake called from the front seat. Mark started to stroke my hair.
"Hey, you remember the house? The first time we walked in and Jack said home sweet home and you yelled at him?" He said laughing a panicked laugh. I nodded squeezing my eyes shut.
"Mark... Help....Me," I squeaked out. I could feel my legs. I arched my back trying to escape the pain.
" You'll be okay, I promise," He said, still stroking my hair. Finally the pain went away. My breath being stuttered. Mark pulled my head to his chest.
"Never again, I promise," He said to me silently. I grabbed the back of his neck.
"Jake, stop the car," I said weakly.
"Why?" He replied.
"Just do it," I said. I needed to breath, I felt sick to my stomach. He stopped the car. I wanted to run so bad. Mark helped me out of the back. I stumbled on my own two feet. Mark caught me in his arms.
"Why the hell would you wanna stop the car?!" Jake yelled at me, "We are in the middle of nowhere!"
"Don't yell at her man," Mark said. Jake lunged at me. Mark's strong hand caught his chest and shoved him away.
"Mark let him hit me," I said in my dark voice. He let go of me, turning dark himself. Jack hadn't said anything since we stopped.
"You're crazy," Jake said, anger in his eyes.
"Hit me," I said. He smacked me across the face, drawing blood from my cheek. Jack stepped out of the car. He was gone to.
"You're weak, Jake," I screamed at him, "You don't know what pain is, do you?"
"Shut up..." He stuttered
"You wanna know why I stopped the car?" I continued
"Shut..." He started
"No, I stopped the car in pain and agony, but you wouldn't know.... Would you?" I said
"Ev, calm it down," Mark said, even his dark side was getting pissed at me.
"Shut up!" I screamed, my hands going into my hair, "Everyone just Shut up!" I fell to the ground sobbing. The darkness left and I was normal again, sobbing in front of three people who had saved my life.
"You know what? I don't know what I was thinking with you, you wasted my time, and my efforts," Jake said
"Come on man, drop us off at the next town, at least," Jack bargained.
"Fine, the next town, then I'm done," He said getting into the back of the car. Mark knelt down to me and pulled me off the ground. I didn't say anything. A tear rolled down my cheek into my cut, stinging it a but. My legs were still weak and fell over themselves.
He set me in the bed of the truck.
"I'm sorry," I sniffled.
"He's a jerk anyway," Mark said.
"I'm glad he's ditching us tomorrow," Jack chimed.
"Dude, why?" Mark asked
"At night, he talks to himself about killing us," Jack said. A pain shot through my spine. I arched my back. Mark ran his hand across it.
"What's wrong?" He asked hurriedly
"I don't know..." I said. The pain stopped and Jake started to laugh.
