"Oh...Hey," He said, his voice was gravely. I sat up.
"Hi," I responded.
"You look tired.." He said lifting his hand and pushing my hair behind my ear.
"I'm fine," I said reaching up and grabbing his hand, " I-I need help,"
"With what, Ev?" He said sitting up his nose brushing lightly against mine.
"I... saw someone in a mirror, but she wasn't me. She was different than me. I have dreams that have came true and I don't want to end up in a hospital bed. You and Jack are the two people I want but I don't want to choose. I love you both and I-I," I started to lose myself
"Hey, hey," Mark wiped away a tear, "I'm here and I love you with everything and it's okay if you don't choose me,"
"But I want to," I said, "Never mind this is dumb I'm sorry, uh go get some sleep and I'll, uh go make some breakfast," I let go of his hands and stood up, leaving the basement and heading inside to make breakfast. Tears filled my eyes. My empty eyes. My broken empty eyes. I reached the front door reaching for the handle yet not touching it. I turned around and looked at the road behind me. I could run. Right now. I could run for the highway, if I don't stop could make it. I then stood near the end of the deck. My parents don't know where I am. My sisters don't know what the hell I'm doing. My friends don't care. If I left there would be nothing for me. The road, the dirt, the nothing. I was sick of being pushed around. If I'm going to die, I need to make it worth it. I need a pill. Something came over me and I walked inside to the kitchen grabbing the pill bottle, popping the lid open and looking at the little white pill. I wasn't about to do this. I popped the pill in my mouth and swallowed. I rested my hands on the counter. I felt the darkness creep into my head. I was still there, I felt....normal. I heard the door behind me open. I pulled my head up. I turned around my eyes drifting from the floor up to Mark's eyes.
"No..." He said running over to me, "What did you do?" He was crying
"I-I made things better, Right?" I said my voice was lower than usual.
"No... uh, Jack!" Mark left running upstairs. I looked around, My world was now dark. I looked over the living room. I felt...drunk. Jack came running downstairs, Mark trailing behind with Ethan.
"Hi," I said, "Where's Mark?" I asked Jack walking over to him
"He's right here," Jack pointed to him. I touched his face lightly, "Where's my Mark?" Jack's eyes went black.
"Morning sweet," Jack said his voice dark, like mine. I lost all control of my actions and my words. I then walked over to Mark and Ethan touching them.
"Ahh, there she is," Mark said smiling
"She's prettier than I thought," Ethan said
"Really?" I said, the dark in my voice
"Ya," Ethan was eyeing me up and down.
"Eyes front soldier," I said cocking my eyebrow.
"We got her, boys," Jack said laughing
"What do we do next?" Ethan said
"We turn on the television," Mark walked over and turned it on. A woman's voice came through saying three sentences on repeat, "World in chaos.... Stay indoors... Do not eat any white pills..."
"We can leave, boys," I said
"Not yet we can't, pretty," Jack said
"And why is that?" I asked, the T.V. still playing in the background
"We aren't done here," He replied
"Jack's right, pretty," Mark chimed in
"What do we need to do then?" Ethan said
"We need to get a car," Mark said.
The rest of the night was faded. All I remember was laughing and drinking. Nothing else. I woke up on the couch with an empty whiskey bottle in my hand. I dropped it and then stood up going to the bathroom, stepping on the broken glass with my converse. I turned the lights on. They blared into my skull. I then washed my hands, noticing the black stuff starting to come off. I let out a sigh of relief.
