"Is she awake?" Voices echoed around me, "Oh, I think she's waking up,"

My eyes shot open, I looked at my surroundings. I tried to move my hands, but they appeared to be chained to whatever I was laying on. Doctors faces surrounded me.

"Back up, we don't want to change her heart rate," One said.

"What's wrong with my heart rate?" I asked drunkenly.

"Well, your heart is beating at a very abnormal pace, we don't want to change it," Another chimed in.

"You know what's funny about everything you just said?" I asked them

"What?" The first said.

"If there was something wrong with my heart I would be dead, you are taking blood," I said. All of their faces went blank. I went dark. A nurse came running in.

"Doctor, her blood is turning black!" She said out of sheer panic. The doctors ran over to me looking at the tubes that were drawing blood from my arm.

"How? this isn't normal," The doctors said.

"Nothing is normal, I am not normal," I said, the dark ripping at my voice, "Why did you think I was normal?"

All the doctors looked at me in shock as I broke free of the restraints around my wrists.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt any of you, I just want out," I said.

"We can't do that," The nurse said, backing to a door. I slowly walked over to her.

"You are going to do that," I replied. Grabbing a scalpel from the surgeons table.

"No, I'm not," She said. I inspected the scalpel.

"How attached are you to your eyes?" I questions. She slowly moved away from the door. I opened the door and threw the medical tool to the floor. I walked out into the long hallway out into the hospital. I walked along the wall peeking into the rooms along the side. The people in the rooms looked back at me, realizing what was happening. Doors started to slam and people started to scream. I saw a doctor standing in the hallway.

"Excuse me!" I called. He turned around. To my surprise it was Reese.

"Hey, Ev," He said, happily. He must have seen my eyes, because his face fell.

"I'm looking for Mark," I said, looking up at Reese and tracing his jawline, "Have you seen him anywhere?"

"Y-ya... room 121," He said . I smiled at him.

"Thanks, Reese," I said, "I'll remember this," I walked down the hallway finding room 121. Just as Reese said Mark was lying in bed, playing patty cake with Lisa. I went normal and leaned against the door frame, dizzy out of my mind.

"Knock...Knock," I managed to get out.

"Ev!" Lisa squealed. She ran up and hugged my leg tightly. I lightly touched her hair.

"Ev, I thought you were in surgery," Mark said coming up to me.

"It wasn't a surgery, they were just taking blood," I said, looking up at him. Mark and Jack exchanged a look.

"I knew this would happen," Jack said.

"Wait...What's happening?" I asked. Mark looked back down at me, and looked back up at someone behind me.

"Reese, is room 42 still available?" Mark said. I turned around to see Reese with a backpack and a set of car keys.

"Sure is," He said smiling. Mark took my hand and led me out the door. Jack followed, pulling little Lisa along.

"Mark, what's going on?" I asked. He didn't answer and kept pulling me along the hallway. I pulled my arm free from his grip. Mark turned around.

"You need to trust me," He said calmly. I looked into his dedicated eyes.

"I-I...I trust you," I said a bit uneasy.

"Good," He grabbed my hand again and started to run. We went down a few flights of stairs before hitting a fairly large parking garage. Reese swung open a car door and threw me in. Mark crawled in after me. Jack then climbed into shotgun, carefully placing Lisa next to him. Reese hopped in the front and started the car. The engine reved with power and Reese sped out of the parking lot like he was being chased.

"Mark," I said. His attention turned to me.

"What? Are you in pain? What hurts?" He said inspecting me.

"I'm fine...I just want to know where we are going," I said

"We are running away," He replied, "They don't want us here, they don't want you, and if they don't want you then they can't have any of us,". I looked up at him with tears starting to fill my eyes.

"You would leave everything, for me?" I said.

"We are engaged, I wouldn't trade the world for you," He said, smiling down at me. I could only smile back up at him. I leaned onto his chest and fell asleep to the sound of his heart beat and the slight rock of the car.
