"Mark, Stop the car," I said, crawling back into the car. He stopped. I got out and shot the other two men. They collapsed to the ground. I walked over to there car and looked through it. There were two gasoline tanks. To our luck, they were both filled. Mark pulled me head to his chest. He kissed the top of my head.
"Good job," He whispered. I stood still as he grabbed the tanks and walked back to the car. I turned and looked at him.
"Come on," He waved to me. I dropped the gun and looked down at my hands. A tear rolled down my cheek. I looked back up at Mark. I turned and looked over at the empty road behind me, the smoke rising from the burning house. The darkness grabbed me back into its shell.
"What are we doing," I said with my back facing Mark and Jack.
"We're living," Mark said. His voice heavy.
"No," I said as I walked over to him. I grabbed his collar and pulled his face close to mine, "What are we doing,"
"I don't understand, pretty," Jack said
"We run, we kill, but we are missing something," I said. I let go of Mark's collar.
"I'm confused, pretty," Mark said
"We have no purpose," I said lifting my head in the slightest way, "What are we without purpose,"
"Oh, pretty, you have purpose, you just haven't found it yet," Mark said, walking up to me, kissing my nose.
"Yes, pretty, be patient. This is your pain for now," Jack said, crawling into the truck. The normal me came back. I fell into Mark's arms.
"You're okay," He said in a comforting voice. I buried my face into his t- shirt. We crawled in the back. I cuddled next to him and fell asleep.
I woke up when the truck hit a large bump and stopped. I peeked my head up to see two men stationed at a fairly large door, large guns rested in their hands. Mark looked out the window next to me.
"What do you think," He asked
"Well, by their outfits, they aren't in the FR or The Reunion, so it's a refugee camp," I said. Mark nodded.
"What about you, Jack?" Mark asked Jack.
"I'm going with Ev on this one. Refugee camp, for sure," Jack replied.
"Okay, plan. I'm going to cut one of my stitches on each cut, just to get a little blood. Mark you'll walk me in begging for help, Jack you'll hold my other arm, also screaming. I'll have the gun in my jeans and act like I'm dying," I proposed.
"Sounds like a plan," Mark nodded.
"Sounds good," Jack said.
"Thing is, we are going to need a different car," I said.
"There's a parking lot right up there," Jack pointed.
"Let's go," Mark said. Jack pushed the gas and we sped off to the parking lot. There we dozens of empty cars. We all got out, Mark's leather bag slung over my good shoulder. I looked in the window of a small car.
"Keys!" I called. Mark and Jack ran over to me. Jack hopped into the driver's side. I crawled into the back with Mark. I grabbed the Med kit and snipped on of the stitches. I winced a bit. Blood started to rush out of my shoulder. I snipped a stitch on my side and blood soon came out of it as well.
"Let's go," I said to Jack. I put the scissors back in the bag and he stepped on the gas. I was thrown back with the force. He skidded to a stop and threw the door open.
"Help! Help!" He screamed to the men. They both raised their guns. Mark helped me out of the car. I was holding my side which, had just enough blood coming out so it looked a little bit fatal. The men put down their guns and hollered to open the door. I stumbled a bit and Mark picked me up. A few nurses ran up and looked at me.
"We tried to stitch them, but the stitches didn't work," Mark said, tears in his voice. I looked at him with pride. I didn't know he could act. He looked at me with pride. The nurses laid me on a gurney and wheeled me into a large room. I heard a man right before we entered tell Mark to go to a room. We were in. The nurses put a mask on me and I fell under.
I woke up in pain. I still saw all of the nurses crowded around me. A high pitch ringing filled my ears. I heard voices all around me in a state of panic. I felt the mask slip over my head. I breathed in and I fell back asleep.
