I woke up in a cot. I looked over to see Mark's brown eyes. I smiled a bit.
"Morning," I choked out.
"Morning," He replied, "So apparently we are the most dangerous people in this place,"
"That's not new," I replied.
"Ya well it is here, their past most dangerous darker was just crazy, he never approached the guards or anything,"
"I approached a guard?" I said, dreadfully as I moved my hand up to my face.
"Ya, but they only gave you a bracelet, something discreet so that they know that it's you," Mark said. I looked down at my wrist.
"Great," I said, sarcastically.
"Hey, Jack and I got one to, so you're not alone," Mark said showing me his wrist. I smiled weakly at him.
"That's... great," I said
"What's wrong?" Mark asked, grabbing my hand.
"I'm a threat... A problem. No one thinks that I am safe anymore," I said.
"No, Ev," Mark said holding my hand tightly.
"Yes, Mark," I replied. There was a knock at the door and Bridgit walked in.
"Alright, we have your tents all set up," She said. she looked at Mark and I "Do you guys want to share?"
"Sure," I said. Mark helped me off the bed and followed Bridgit out into the open. People's heads turned at the sight of us. We were new, and we were dangerous. Bridgit showed our tents. She pointed to a larger one.
"That one's Evelina and Mark's," She said. She pointed to another one, "That one's yours, Jack,"
"Thanks," Jack said. Bridgit nodded and then walked off. Jack started into his tent.
"Goodnight Jack," I said, right before Mark dragged me into the tent. I heard him whisper goodnight in return. I slipped off my shirt, wincing in pain, revealing all the scars. My black sports bra visibly stained with blood.
"Ev," Mark said. I looked away from him, trying to cover all of my scars as best as I possibly could.
"Yes?" I replied
"You look..." Mark started.
"Horrible?" I said cutting him off. He walked towards me and grabbed my waist.
"No, you look gorgeous," He said, leaning down brushing his lips off of mine. I let my hands fall onto his forearms.
"You think so?" I whispered.
"Baby, I know so," he replied. His breathe warm on my cheeks. He kissed me then slowly went down to my neck.
"Mark, are you drunk or something?" I asked.
"It takes off the edge, sweetheart," He said, then got back to what he was doing. He wrapped one of his arms around my back and gently laid me on the one person cot, his body gently falling on top of mine. His lips came back to mine. His hands moved up and down my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck. He broke away, but he still didn't lose contact with my lips. I could feel his heartbeat as he pulled air in and out just like he went for a run.
"All I ever wanted was you," He whispered, pulling his shirt off, "I never got to take you on a nice date or anything," I looked deep into his eyes, and smiled ever so slightly
"Mark, I never needed that to know that you love me," I said, I put my lips on his again.
"I feel like, you just never got the life you needed," He said into the kiss. I gently pulled away, lightly touching his nose with mine.
"I got the life I needed, Mark, and I wouldn't change any of it," I said. I felt his smile. I smiled in return. He flipped us over so my small body laying across his torso. I ran my thumb over his lips and then lightly tapped his nose. He let out a small chuckle. He wrapped his arms around me.
"I love you, don't you ever forget that," He said, as I laid my head on his chest.
"Don't worry, I won't," I said sleepily. I slowly fell asleep in Mark's warmth.
