"Ah, you sure?" The man said rolling his eyes
"You want to try me? I could kick your dumb ass normal," Mark said
"Normal, huh? Is that even a thing for you?" Mark went normal and smacked him so hard, he passed out. The dark me was so impressed, I walked over to him, going normal on the way there.
We all sat on the floor in the dim light of the candles. I finally broke the silence.
"Where should we...bury Steven?" I asked. Jack was still sitting next to his limp body.
"I-I think we should burying him outside," Mark replied. I walked over to Jack. He hopped up and hugged me by surprise.
"Hey, it's going to be okay, I reassured him. He was trembling in tears.
"He was too young," Jack said sobbing. I looked at Mark over Jack's shoulder. Mark eyes were frowning at me.
"I know, I know," I said, still holding Jack like a child. I started to tear of myself, "We'll give him a good funeral, that's what he would want," Jack merely nodded at that. Mark headed up the ladder into the empty house with a shovel. Jack grabbed Steven and headed up the ladder. I followed. The sunlight blinded me and stung my eyes, but it felt so good and my skin. The breeze smelled so fresh. My concussion made everything hurt.
"Jack bring him over here," Mark said, nodding at a large hole. Jack cried and set Steven gently in it. I walked over to him and looked down at the 16-year-old boy. I rubbed Jack's back. Mark started to bury him. I heard voices in the distance.
"Mark," I said. He must have heard them to, he grabbed my arm and started into the house. Jack followed. Mark let me in first and then Jack. He jumped down and closed the hatch. I climbed the ladder again.
"Ev," Mark whispered harshly at me, "What are you doing?"
"Listening," I whispered back. There were footsteps on the wooden floor above me.
"That grave out there was fresh Adam," A voice said. Adam?
"Look I don't think they're here," It was Adams voice.
"How do you know that?" The other said. One of them stepping on the metal door. I locked it.
"What the hell?" Adam said, moving the rug. I closed my eyes praying that they don't find us. I heard the latch try and open.
"Ev, what's happening," Jack called up to me through a whisper. I put my finger to my lips telling him to be quiet. The door started to jiggle and I went half way down the ladder. Still keeping my eyes trained on the door. I had an idea.
"Mark go grab that guy you knocked out," I said. He nodded and ran to the kitchen.
"Ev, what do you want me to do?" Jack said.
"Grab the gun for me," I said. Mark came back with the half knocked out man. Mark's arm was tightly wrapped around his neck. Jack came up holding the gun out for me to grab.
"You do it," I said. Jack smiled and went dark. He held the gun to the man's forehead.
"Listen, you are going to act like you live here, say something wrong, I shoot, got it?" Jack said violently. The man nodded in fear and started to crawl up the ladder.
