A few minutes later Mark came running down the stairs with a plaid shirt on and a leather backpack.

"Alright, I'm taking the car, I'll be back around ten tonight," He said from the door.

"Alright bye," Me and Jack cooed from the dining room. I stood up grabbing the empty plates from the table and dumping them in the sink.

"Hey," Jack said standing in the doorway. I jumped a little.

"Hi, I'm sorry about last night, I really am," I said closing my eyes and covering them with my hands. Jack walked over to me.

"It's fine, I don't want you to be scared or afraid okay?" He said pulling me into a hug. I buried my face into his freshly washed shirt. It smelled of the downy soap that I used. He pulled me out of it and looked deep into my eyes.

"I have a question," He said as if he was ashamed

"Sure, fire away," I responded turning to do the dirty dishes

"Do you like Mark?" He said. I stopped and turned around

"What do you mean?" I questioned

"Like, you know, LIKE him?"

"Do I have a crush on him? Is that what you asking?"

"Ya, that,"

"No, I don't he's my friend,"

"Okay, Just asking, because yesterday when he threw you on the bed and you guys were like laughing and..." I walked over to him

"I don't like him, we were joking around, having fun." I smiled a bit to give him reassurance.

"Okay," He replied smile at me back. I turned back around and picked up on what I left off.

"One more question," He said

"Shoot" I said

"Do you like me?" The question hit me like a bus. I had thought about this many times when we lived in the city. Truth is I did like him and I knew 100 percent that it was wrong. I put the dishes back and dried my hands, still startled from the question. I looked up and walked over to him.

"I'm going to be utterly, and completely honest here," I said. I was scared for the answer. Probably not as scared as he was

"I do like you, a lot," I said looking at the ground, I felt ashamed maybe I shouldn't have told him and what if he told Mark? He looked at me with big round eyes.

"I like you too," He said faintly. He smiled and looked into my eyes. I didn't know what to think or even how to feel.

Around one in the afternoon I sat down to watch a movie when my phone started to ring. I stood up and looked at the call. It was from a strange number that I didn't know.

"Hello?" I answered

"Hey, Ev this is Mark," Mark said on the other side of the line.

"Oh hi, what's up how was the interview?" I asked

"It was good I think I got the job," He said

"That's awesome!" I said. Jack came down the stairs and looked at me mouthing 'who is it?' I mouthed back 'Mark'

"Ya, so they asked me if you guys want to help me do this job," He said

" Oh really?" I said. I moved into the kitchen and looked out the sink window.

"Ya they would just test it once and it's some kind of pain killer, So when either of you have a headache, bam! Test done," I wasn't sure, painkiller was and is a hard thing to test.

"Uh... Lemme ask Jack okay?" I said. Just then Jack came up behind my wrapping his hands around my waist

"We'd love to," He said grabbing my phone.

"Really? Awesome so that's like 2,000 dollars extra on my paycheck!"

"Awesome, Text us when you're coming home," He said

"Alright thanks guys see ya,"

"Bye," Jack replied and put my phone down. I turned around.

"Jack, why did you do..." I was interrupted by Jack kissing me. I was startled at first and then I realized that this was real. Like really real. He pulled away, blushing with embarrassment. I touched his face lightly with my hand and went in for another kiss, when I heard the movie going it the living room. I pulled away this time.

"Shoot I have a movie going," I said running into the living room. Jack followed me. I sat down on the couch and he sat next to me. I leaned on him and he put his arm around me. Moments later I fell asleep.
