~ one year later ~

Your POV

One whole year since the night Hercules left. Damn. I think I can finally say it's all behind me. I'm happy, John's happy. We're even happier together. We have no idea though how the others are doing. But... they have tried to come back on more than one occasion... I think the closest person to actually coming back was Lafayette (after he came back from France), but we didn't let them back in. As of why, no clue, but its worked well for us.

It was interesting looking back. Two years of a perfectly fine relationship, then we lost all three of them in less than half a year. So technically, John and I have been together for three years and counting. He really did keep his word. That and then some. How?

He proposed.

About six months ago, John decided to 'pop the question'. I couldn't have been happier. The ring was a silver band and it had an opal (John's birthstone) (hA YOU BET I DID SOME RESEARCH) and a/an (Y/B/S) (your birthstone) on it. I loved it so much.

Currently, John and I were in Central Park. We were walking down a path, hands intertwined. We were just enjoying the sunny day, the clear blue sky. My head was leaning against his arm (being small is just fun), and we were just having fun.

We soon stopped at a bench and sat down. John looked at me, grinning. "So, how's the cutest person in the world doing?"

I giggled and looked back at him. "I don't know... how are you?"

John blushed and looked away, a sheepish smile on his face (cue the adorable art above I LITERALLY CAN'T). "I'm good.."

I grinned, victorious. I leaned against him, and he wrapped his arm around my waist. We looked at the occasional people walking by, until a familiar trio caught my eye. My eyes widened and I turned to John. "Johnny look!"

I nodded my head in the direction I saw them and John spotted them too.

Alexander, Lafayette, and Hercules.

John's hazel eyes narrowed slightly and I could see a spark in them. I grabbed his arm before he could think to stand up. "Don't worry about them, Freckles. They don't mean anything to me now."

John nodded, and I let go. He stood up. "Let's just go before they notice us," he said. I stood up as well.

"Might be too late for that." The three of them had spotted us and Laf pointed at us.

John glanced over at them and sighed. I rubbed his arm sympathetically and smiled. "How about we just keep walking around?"

He nodded. "Sounds good."

I looped my arm through his and he grinned, starting to walk forward. I followed after him.

While walking, John kept cracking jokes and I couldn't stop smiling and laughing. I knew they saw us and I was honestly enjoying the fact they just had to watch.

John and I ended up at the big lake (or is it a pond like wHaT is that body of water in the park). We just stood by the water, I was holding onto his arm, smiling brightly. "It's so prettyyyyy!" I chirped.

John grinned. "Not as pretty as you, chickadee."

I rolled my eyes playfully. "Thanks, Freckles."

We both laughed and I let go of John's arm to face him. He leaned down, kissing my nose. "Gotcha."

I blushed, and he smiled smugly. He leaned down again, and I expected him to do something, so instead I quickly pecked his lips. "Gotcha too." He laughed and rested his forehead against mine, grabbing onto my hands. We enjoyed the peaceful moment until he stood straight up again. He held onto one of my hands as we looked back out. I was about to comment when I heard familiar voices nearby.

"I'm telling you guys, Jefferson is onto me for no reason!" Alexander.

"When isn't he, mon amour?" Lafayette replied.

"True words right there," said Hercules, chuckling.

I looked at John. "Did they follow us?" I mumbled.

John's eyes narrowed slightly. "Just ignore them."

I trained my focus back onto the water, moving closer to John. John wrapped his arm around my waist, smiling to himself. But then a familiar French accent spoke up behind us.

"John? (Y/N)?"

I turned slightly to see the guys. We turned around to face them, but I had no words. All I could do was give a small wave as mumble a weak "hi".

John nodded stiffly. "What do you guys need?"

Lafayette was about to speak up when Alexander's eyes widened. I followed his eyes to my engagement ring. "Is that... did you..." For once, Alexander Hamilton was speechless.

John's eyes saw my ring and he nodded again. "Yeah I did. I knew I didn't want to leave her from the start."

I smiled a bit and saw a small grin on his face too, but his grip on my waist tightened in almost a protective manner. The guys caught what John meant and guilty looks crossed their faces.

"We're sorry..." Hercules started.

"Sorry doesn't cut anything, you guys. You hurt her more than anyone else here. We've said it once and we'll say it again; we're not coming back."

Lafayette reached forward, but John stepped forward. "Stop."

John turned and looked at me. "Let's just get out of here, chickadee. Ice cream?"

I grinned. "Yeah!"

John smiled then turned to the guys. "Take more time to think, please. And learn to understand no means no. You let a very special girl go, and this is the price." He turned back to me. "Let's go, chickadee."

I gave the three guys a small wave before holding onto John's arm again, resting my head against it as we walked away. I looked at my freckled fiancé.

"Thanks, Johnny. You're the best."

John smiled, and his hazel eyes shone brightly. "Don't thank me, (N/N). I'd do anything for you."

It was my turn to smile as we walked. We were truly satisfied, and some past exes wouldn't take away any more from us.
