John's POV
I was in the living room, and (Y/N) was making something in the kitchen. I was scrolling through Instagram when I heard her pick up her phone.
I couldn't make out the conversation, but I didn't pay mind to it. At least until I heard the sound of something clatter to the floor and a muffled wail.
I shot up from my seat, dropping my phone and running into the kitchen. "(N/N)?!"
(Y/N)'s phone was face down next to her, and she was knelt on the ground, sobbing into her hands. I rushed over, kneeling down next to her. "What happened?"
"S-she... m-my s-sister--!"
I pulled (Y/N) closer to me. "What about (S/N), chickadee?"
(Y/N) took a shaky breath. "S-she got i-into an a-accident... they c-couldn't s-save her!"
My heart dropped. I knew from the day I had met (Y/N) and her older sister that they were close. They were like inseparable best friends. (Y/N) looked up to her sister more than anyone and they loved each other more than anything. But now (Y/N) had her sister taken away from her.
I wrapped my arms around (Y/N), pulling her to me. "I'm so sorry, (N/N)... just let it out..."
(Y/N) cried into my chest, and for a while we just stayed there, me rubbing her back or occasionally running a hand through her (H/C) hair.
After a while, she removed herself from my arms. "C-can I just h-have some time t-to m-myself?"
I nodded. "Sure. Just know I'm here, chickadee. Try not to keep to yourself (I have this problem gOd)."
She nodded, getting up and walking to her room. Even though we shared a house, we had separate rooms, though we'd usually just sleep in mine together.
I got up, cleaning up what (Y/N) had never finished. I went back into the living room to wait for her to come back.
~ an hour later ~
She still hadn't come out. I went up to her room, knocking on the door. "Chickadee? You okay?" No response.
I opened her door, which I was surprised it wasn't locked. She was curled up on the bed, eyes closed. She appeared to be asleep. I walked over to the bed, pushing aside some strands of her hair and kissing her forehead. I walked out of the room without a sound, closing the door behind me.
~ that night ~
She still hadn't left. I thought she was still asleep, but when I went up, she was still curled up, yet her eyes were open. "(N/N)? How're you doing..?" She didn't reply.
I walked in, sitting at the edge of the bed. "(N/N)?" Silent. I moved over slightly, waving a hand in front of her face. She didn't look over, she didn't blink.
I started getting worried. 'Why was she like this?'
"(Y/N), love, please say something..."
She didn't.
She didn't for a whole month and counting.
~
That was a month ago. No matter what, (Y/N) had been completely despondent to everyone. Some days her eyes were closed, some days they were open. She'd stay curled up on the bed.
I found myself talking to her every night, even if she wasn't listening. I'd tell her about my day, make a joke every now and again. I'd hold her hand, show her love... well... I'd try. Nothing ever worked.
Before I'd go off to my room, I'd kiss her goodnight. But instead of going to my room, I'd close her door after saying goodnight and slide down next to it. And I would break down and cry... every single night.
I didn't know if she'd ever get out of her state. I was scared, I was upset.
I just wanted her back.
