"God no! I'm not leaving you alone, chickadee. If they want to leave then so be it. We don't need them."

~ six months after Herc's departure ~

Your POV

Everything had been going surprisingly well. Sure, I still felt sad every now and again, but most of it was behind me, thanks to John's unconditional love and support. I hadn't been this happy and excited since all five of us were together and nothing was going on.

Currently, I closed our apartment door behind us, locking it. John and I had went to Central Park. I was about to remove the smokey gray scarf around my neck (it was October!), when I stopped. I turned back to John, who was about to take off his coat. "Wanna go on the balcony?"

He thought a moment, then nodded, still taking off his coat. "Yeah! I don't need my coat anyways."

I grinned. "Don't complain if you get cold with just that," I said, motioning to his navy blue flannel. He usually wore his red one, but today I decided to steal it from him.

I started walking to our bedroom, where the balcony door was. I turned back to John. "You comin'?"

John nodded. "I'll be right there! Just gotta use the bathroom.."

I nodded, flashing a smile at him and stepping into our bedroom, going to the balcony. I opened the door, the cool night air of October flooding in. I fixed my scarf as I stepped out. I walked over to the railing, leaning against it. New York City was stunning at night. "Beautiful..." I breathed out.

"Not as beautiful as you, chickadee."

I turned to see John, hands behind his back and grinning. I blushed, and he chuckled and walked over to me.

John's POV (after she goes outside)

She made the job ten times easier without realizing it! I guess I could finally ask her tonight. New York was beautiful at night, and we were away from the hustle and bustle of the streets. It was perfect!

I walked into our bedroom, silently. I opened a drawer of my dresser, pulling away clothes to reveal a black box. I took in a breath, pulling out the box. I closed the drawer, clutching the box behind my back. I walked over to the door and saw her leaning against the rail.

"Beautiful..."

I grinned and stepped out. "Not as beautiful as you, chickadee."

She turned, slightly startled, and blushed. I chuckled and walked over to her, wrapping my free arm around her waist. She leaned into my touch and we stood against the railing a few minutes, blanketed by a peaceful silence.

It's now or never.

I glanced down at (Y/N), and I sucked in a breath. The more I looked at the beautiful girl next to me, the faster I felt my confidence dripping down the drain. I released a breath I forgot I was holding. I started playing with her (H/L) (H/C) hair.

"Hey chickadee."

"Yeah?"

"Do you remember what I told you the night Herc left?"

She thought a moment. "You said you weren't going to leave me alone... and that we didn't need the guys. Why?"

I kept playing with her hair. "Just wondering."

She looked at me. "You're not leaving right?"

"Of course not. I made a promise I intend to keep y'know."

She giggled. "Sappy."

"Only for you!"

We both laughed.

"But in all seriousness, I think it's about time I actually seal the promise."

She cocked her head, as I stepped back. "How are you exactly gonna--" Her eyes widened. "... wait. Waaaait... are you...?"

I grinned sheepishly as I pulled out the box from behind me and got onto one knee. "Yes..?"

Her hands flew up to cover her mouth, her (E/C) wide and glistening with tears as I opened the small box, revealing a silver ring with an opal and a (Y/B/S).

"So... we both know I suck at speeches. What I also know is that I've loved you since the moment we first met. I don't know what it is about you that caught my eye, but it was probably everything. Seeing you look so broken after the guys left... it's something I never ever want to see again. So I made a promise; to never leave you alone, to love you unconditionally. You're my whole world, I'd be lost without you. So let me ask you this; fulfill this promise and become (Y/N) (M/N) Laurens."

(Y/N) only nodded furiously, unable to say anything. My smile widened as I jumped up and wrapped my arms around her waist tightly, feeling tears in my own eyes. Her arms wrapped around my neck, and I spun her around.

I let go of her, only to slide the ring on her finger, before her arms flew around me again and she buried her head in my chest. I laughed and pried her off, putting one hand on her waist and the other on her face, wiping away the tears streaming down her face. She leaned into my touch, giggling and smiling brightly. "Thank you," she whispered.

I pulled her closer. "I should be saying that to you."

She laughed and pulled me down into a kiss. Both of our eyes closed and she pulled me closer so that there wasn't any more space between us.

We broke apart, my hand still cupping her face. "You know, you look cute in my flannel, (N/N) Laurens."

She blushed and buried her face in my chest again. I heard a mumbled, "I love you, Freckles," and chuckled, wrapping my arms around her securely.

"I love you more, chickadee."

We stayed there a few minutes, listening to the faint sounds of the street below. Our new lives together had only just begun, and I wouldn't let the guys tear her down ever again.
