Your POV

My life has been pretty interesting, needless to say. Not necessarily in the good way, but I've had my moments. It just mostly started when I was young, when I got into a car accident. As bad as it sounds, it only got worse.

How I lost the ability to speak? That was beyond me.

But because of that, now I found myself mute. Unable to talk. I still made my ways around though. It was just slightly harder with no vocal chords. Not to mention the constant stream of not-so-nice words that came after the accident. Everyone thought I was shy and weak, all because I couldn't talk.

Flashbacks -

"Ha! Look at her! She's so weak she can't even speak for herself!" Adrian sneered, laughing.

Adrian's friend Myers shoved me to the floor, and a weird, raspy noise left my mouth as I hit the floor.

"C'mon, (Y/N), say something!" Myers taunted. "Oh wait... you can't!"

Both young teens laughed and high-fived. I received a kick from both of them before they ran down the hall, leaving me curled up in the middle school hallway.

"(Y/N), dear, could you answer the question up here?" Miss Rawlins asked. Miss Rawlins was one of the few teachers who helped me out in high school, and she was my favorite teacher.

I glanced up at the board, trying to ignore the taunting stares of not only Adrian and Myers, but the glances from the rest of the class.

'The square root of 3,136 is __'

I thought to myself a moment, looking down at my whiteboard that I used to communicate. I uncapped my marker and scribbled down an answer, holding it up.

'56'

Miss Rawlins smiled. "Correct!"

Adrian raised his hand. "Yes Adrian?"

"How come (Y/N) over there gets to write on a whiteboard?" he teased.

Miss Rawlins frowned immediately. "What did I tell you about this behavior, Adrian? Hallway please."

Adrian rolled his eyes, standing up. As he passed me, he smirked and hit the back of my head hard, and I could hear snickering.

"Adrian! Office!" my teacher ordered strictly.

"Worth it to smack the weakling," he muttered, sending me another mean smirk.
