Lin's POV

'Mr. Miranda,

This letter has been sent to you to inform you your wife, (Y/N) Miranda, has recently been caught up in an incident.

While on duty here in the Middle East, (Y/N) along with her fellow soldiers were fighting enemy soldiers. Soldiers on the other side ended up throwing explosives, catching her and a few others in its paths.

We are doing everything we can, and if all goes right, (Y/N) should be home within the next month.

I found myself reading the letter over and over again, the situation sinking in slowly with every passing minute. She could die. She could die... What if she died? My love... Her glory...

(Y/N) and I had known each other since we were kids, eventually getting together in 2008 and then getting married in 2010. During our honeymoon, we ended up adopting a dog, Tobillo, and I had already started work on my latest project, Hamilton- the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton. But that was years ago, this was now, 2016. I hadn't seen (Y/N) in about two years.

My mind was traveling to all sorts of negative places rather than the positive ones, and I felt tears slipping down my face. I heard a whimper and something nudge my feet, and I looked down to see Tobillo looking up at me with her big eyes.

I sighed, picking her up. "Come here, Tobi."

Tobillo nuzzled my face and I couldn't help but laugh a bit, petting her gently. I knew even if things were about to get more stressful, I still had the amazing Hamilton cast, and even little Tobillo.

~ time skip! ~

I was walking Tobillo in Central Park. The September air wasn't overbearing, it was perfect. I frequently found myself walking Tobillo to clear my mind, or hanging out with a good friend of mine, Vanessa.

The walk was a mostly quiet affair, when suddenly Tobillo started barking and tugging at her leash. "Geez, Tobi! What's wrong?"

Tobillo just kept barking, and I finally noticed a woman on the ground nearby. There was a crutch too far out of her reach and something that resembled a black cast went all the way up her leg. She seemed all too familiar, but I didn't know why.

Tobillo started tugging at the leash harder, and in my quick thoughts the leash slipped from my grip. I snapped out of my thoughts. "Tobi! Come back!"

However, Tobillo just dragged the leash behind her, and I had no choice but to run after my dog. "Tobillo!"

The woman's back was facing me as Tobillo approached her, jumping up onto her lap and pawing at her.

"Oh! Hey there... Tobillo? Tobi!" She scooped Tobillo up into her arms and Tobillo barked happily.

How does she know...

Wait...

"(Y-Y/N)?" I asked slowly.

Sure enough, I recognized the bright (E/C) eyes as soon as her head turned. Her eyes widened as she set Tobillo down next to her. "L-Lin?"

I immediately knelt down, pulling (Y/N) into a tight hug. "Oh my God, (Y/N)... w-what? How?"

"I don't know how I lived. I thought I was gonna die..."

We reluctantly pulled away from the hug, and I tucked a strand of (H/C) hair behind her ear. "But you didn't... how'd you get here though?"

"They eventually sent me home, and I stayed with (B/F/N). I had gone out today and some guy started following me and sh*t. I tried confronting him but he kicked my crutch away from me and pushed me down and walked away. A few minutes later, I find you and Tobi here," she responded.

We were there in silence a moment or two, until I finally stood up, grabbing her crutch and holding out my hand. (Y/N) grabbed my hand quickly and I helped her stand up, handing her the crutch. She situated it against a tree nearby to us before pulling me into another tight hug, almost stumbling.

I wrapped my arms around (Y/N) and looked down at Tobillo, who's tail was wagging excitedly, like she knew exactly what was happening. In a way, I think Tobillo did know. She was a clever dog.

By the time we pulled apart, I noticed (Y/N)'s watery eyes and wiped away the few tears that had fallen.

"Mierda (sh*t XD)... I shouldn't be crying," (Y/N) mumbled, laughing a bit to herself.

I chuckled, pulling her into a kiss. I could finally breathe easy knowing she was home.

That night, things seemed the closest to normal they'd been in a long, long time. (Y/N) and I were laying in bed, her pressed against my side. Tobillo had curled up beside her legs. Both of them were already asleep.

I opened my camera, taking a picture before going to Twitter.

Everything finally felt right again. I looked back at (Y/N) finally noticing her wedding ring still on her finger. I grabbed her hand, holding onto it as I finally felt myself falling asleep. I finally could sleep; I didn't have to worry for a while.

wowza this was actually a second draft. what my original plan was, was (like Anthony's), Lin was going to get surprised, but it dragged on a bit too long so I did this instead!
