The Pain of Being Broken 8-27-18

The wind whispered my name,

And the sky cried the tears that were deep in my heart,

Which my heart would not speak of,

For the pain was to unbearable.

The screaming in my head,

Would not stop,

For I knew,

No one would want something like me.

These tears I cry,

Were invisible.

The cuts upon my legs,

Had no mercy to be shed upon.

These smiles,

Made me look fine,

Deep down,

I knew…

I am a damaged person,

I hide my flaws from view,

For people want to be wanted,

Loved and needed.

What can you expect from a child who has been hurt?

What can you say to the child when you know they are wounded?

What can you do for them,

When they shut everyone down?

The words echo in the vast space,

Where a heart once dwelled.

Now there's nothing there,

Just a darkness that can't be filled.
