Life Is Like A Dream

I opened my eyes up,
And I am now old.
I close them once more,
Seeing my childhood,
Like a dream,
Playing like a movie.
My life has been on fast forward...
There is no reverse button.
I see the different chapters,
An how I got through them.
How I worked to get to where I am...
It all seems so surreal.
I can't believe,
I am already sixteen.
Where has my life gone?
I miss the pure innocence and ignorance of being a child.
Not really understanding things,
And not afraid to be me.
Loving and living,
Every day as the day went by.
I look back at how,
I thought and felt.
How when I was sad,
It passed.
How there was child drama.
The correcting of actions,
Learning from my mother
How to be a young lady.
Being taught,
You need to be modest.
A woman with virtue is respected.
She wasn't perfect,
But she was my guardian angel.
My best friend,
Then in came a man...
Taking her from me.
Breaking a relationship.
Men came between my mother and I.
I can see where we fell apart,
Yet it is still blurry.
I remember,
Dreading the next day.
I remember,
Wishing to be dead at a young age.
Praying to get hit by a car,
While walking to school.
School was my escape...
I hated when the day ended.
My pillow and blankets became my best friend.
They were the ones I relied on.
But,
I remember the times,
Before there was a man.
There was laughter and freedom.
There was love and relationships.
There was happiness,
Why can't I have happiness again?
There was great health,
And now there is,
If you get sick,
You need to watch it cause you can die.
I wish,
I could relive my life differently.
