Taehyung isn't sure how he's supposed to feel when his own roommate asks him to be his fake boyfriend for the week.
----
If there's one thing that Taehyung's certain of by now, it's that he's suddenly in too deep. It isn't like he intends to be, because truly, he doesn't. But God, he can never help himself when Jeongguk looks at him so expectantly, those big, amber, and naive eyes feel like they're almost burning a hole into his heart. Taehyung swallows, his throat feels inexplicably dry. His head is spinning, heart is racing, because there's absolutely not a chance that Jeongguk has really just asked this of him.
Taehyung's trying to comprehend it. Though, a simple question, it's almost like the most complex equation inside of his head. Then, he parts his lips to croak, "You're serious?" And he watches the glint that simmers in the younger boy's eyes. Or maybe he hallucinated that. There's a ringing in his ears, a pulsing in his brain that's all too loud, but he thinks that might be due to the one too many shots of tequila he's consumed within the past hour. Jeongguk's quick to nod eagerly, and his hair bounces along with his hasty action.
"Completely serious." He replies with, and his voice drops a bit too low to Taehyung's liking. He wants to shiver, whimper under his harsh gaze, underneath the intoxicating sexual tension that skulks around them, but he maintains his composure. The question wasn't anything sexual, hell, it was barely bordering romantic, yet here Taehyung stits, head whirring with arousal as he tries to keep his breathing even. He's trying to make it seem as if this situation isn't affecting him in more ways than one. However, Jeongguk wasn't letting this be so simple.
"It's only a few days, hyung. That's it. Can you do that for me?" Jeongguk adds, before his lips form into a pout. A pout. Yeah, that's it, Taehyung's fucking done for, he's decided. Taehyung's trying his best to keep the center of his attention on Jeongguk's eyes, proving to be difficult in how his eyes itch to stare at his mouth.
It's only a few days, he tells himself, the words are replaying like a tape on loop in his brain— Fuck, is he really considering this?
"A few days?" His shaky voice questions.
Jeongguk smiles, "Just a few days."
Taeyhung's teeth dig into his lower lip, pinching until he's terrified he's going to break the skin. It stings, so badly, and he's trying his best not to start fidgeting under Jeongguk's awaiting gaze. He manages a sigh, and his shoulders relax.
"Okay."
There's a pause, it's rather long and perilous, and Jeongguk's staring at Taehyung as if he'd just been intricate riddle on this Earth. There's unquestionably no chance that Taehyung's heart doesn't melt at the bright grin that finds its way onto Jeongguk's lips, and he's sure that he could die right then and there at the sight of stars that illuminate in Jeongguk's eyes as they crinkle around the edges. Taehyung's engulfed into a hug before he even had the chance to protest it, but it isn't like he wants to, especially not when Jeongguk's arms feel so warm when they're thrown around him. Though, Taehyung's rigid with surprise, eyes wide as Jeongguk insists on repeated a constant, "Thank you!"
He's swift in relaxing into the embrace, arms wrapping back around the boy in front of him. The whiff of perfume that infects his nose is almost intoxicating, and the way his heart suddenly skips a beat is enough to make his head spin. (Then again, he is still insistent on the fact that it's the tequila.)
Jeongguk's the first to pull away from the grasp, eyes still crinkled with joy as he flashes a toothy grin towards the older. Taehyung finds himself trying to swallow at the lump that's forming in his throat. It's then that he realises, as Jeongguk's smile is so bright that it could potentially blind him, that he might not live to see the end of the week.
