Jeongguk takes Tae out for ice cream, and cuteness overload may or may not ensue.

-

"It's soooooo hot today," Tae moans as he flops down on the living room couch, fanning himself with his hand. "I don't wanna do anything ."

Jeongguk hums as he stands in front of his boyfriend, thinking. It was too hot to do most things, that's for sure, but he also doesn't want to lay around the house all day. An idea pops into his head, something he's sure the other will love enough to get himself up off the couch.

"Wanna go get ice cream?"

Jeongguk must've said the magic words, because his boyfriend leaps off the couch to throw himself on top of him, squealing excitedly. Jeongguk grins cheekily and winds the other's legs around his waist, gripping Tae's thighs in his hands so that they don't topple over.

The younger huffs a laugh. "I think that's a yes, then?"

"YES!" Tae says. He boops Jeongguk's nose, giggling when the other's eyes go cross-eyed to tease him. "So much yes!"

Jeongguk lowers him carefully to the floor, reaching out his hand for the other to take. "Well, let's get going, then." He laces his and Tae's fingers together, pulling the older in the direction of the door. The older comes willingly, skipping a bit to match Jeongguk's swift pace.

The walk to the nearest ice cream shop is short but eventful. Jeongguk dutifully pauses every time his boyfriend gets distracted by something, whether it's stopping to say hello to the elderly woman walking her Corgi outside their apartment building or pointing with an outstretched hand at the flower vendor across the street. It takes them ten minutes to complete what should've been a five-minute walk, but Jeongguk doesn't mind, not when he gets to stand by Tae's side and watch as he smiles his big boxy smile at everything they meet, a big, warm hand clasped tightly in his own.

Jeongguk's pretty sure that all he'll ever need in life is to hold Taehyung's hand.

The bell over the shop door jingles when they step into it. It's a cute shop, decorated to look like a '50s diner, with blue checkered tiles and tall-backed red booths giving the place a real Grease vibe. The wall right next to the counter is decorated with photos of people in Halloween costumes, all posing with an ice cream cone. Jeongguk remembers absently that this particular ice cream shop goes all out for Halloween, offering free ice cream to anyone who will pose for a picture to go up on the shop wall. Jeongguk wonders if his and Tae's photo from last year is still up on it. Finding no evidence of a Snow White costume, he shrugs and turns away.

The two boys sidle up to the glass counter together, Jeongguk's arm wrapped around Tae's waist. Tae still hasn't looked away from the flavor board, oohing and ahhing over the options.

"What flavor do you want, babe?" Jeongguk asks.

Taehyung gives his boyfriend the side-eye of the century. "Are you really asking, Guk?"

Jeongguk chuckles throatily and slings an arm around the other's shoulder. "Nah. That was a stupid question."

Taehyung hums. "Yes, it was." He turns to the clerk, who Tae is pretty sure has been eyeing them with thinly veiled mirth for the past few minutes. The older boy holds up two fingers in a V, placing them next to his right eye as he grins brightly. "Two scoops of strawberry, please!" His eyes widen owlishly. "Oh, and in a cone!"

"And I'll have a scoop of cookie dough in a cone," Jeongguk adds, a fond smile on his face as he watches his boyfriend fidget with excitement.

"Two scoops of strawberry and one scoop of cookie dough," the clerk confirms, turning around to make the two cones. He hands Tae his strawberry first, smiling at how the other boy reaches out his hands in an adorable "gimme" gesture. Tae takes the cone from him carefully, not wanting to spill a drop, and immediately latches his mouth to where the ice cream is starting to drip down the cone's sides, licking it with enthusiasm.

"Is it good, baby?" Jeongguk asks, the corners of his lips quirked up into a smile.

"Mmmmmf. Sho good Gukkie," Tae mumbles around the ice cream, his eyes closed in bliss.

Jeongguk grins. "I'm glad." He takes his own cone from the clerk and pays, giving him a nod of thanks. "C'mon, let's sit over here." He directs the other to a booth by one of the shop windows that looks out onto the street. Tae plops himself down on one side, Jeongguk on the other. The two boys eat their ice cream in silence for a while, both content to bask in the presence of the other. Jeongguk is the first to break it when he lets out a soft hum of amusement.

"Really, Tae?"

The boy in question stares at his accuser with wide eyes, mouth still full of strawberry ice cream. "Whaff?"

Jeongguk sighs exasperatedly, shaking his head, but Tae still notices how his his eyes crinkle at the corners. "You've got ice cream all over your mouth," the younger remarks, his hands reaching for a napkin to wipe up the mess on the other's face. He dabs at Tae's chin carefully, tilting his head with his free hand to make sure he gets all of the sugary gunk off. "Honestly, I can't take you anywhere."

Tae giggles cutely and playfully punches the other on the shoulder. "Yes you can! You took me here, silly!"

Jeongguk's eyebrows scrunch into an expression of genuine confusion. "That makes literally no sense, Tae."

Tae grins. "That's the point!" He finishes his ice cream and begins munching on the cone instead, scattering crumbs everywhere. Jeongguk simply rolls his eyes in response and continues licking his own creamy treat, watching in adoration as his boyfriend devours the rest of his dessert.

Tae leans back in the booth when he's finished, patting small circles on his tummy. "Mmm, that was good." He claps his hands together. "Can I-?"

Jeongguk groans, reaching out to cover the other boy's lips with his hand before he can finish his sentence. "No, Tae, you can't have another one." He removes his hand, taking in the way Tae pouts pitifully at him.

"But Gukkie!"

"No buts, baby," Jeongguk says firmly.

Tae harrumphs, sulking, but then he turns his deep brown eyes on Jeongguk's own, blinking them rapidly and fluttering his thick lashes. "Please?"

Jeongguk's hard exterior begins to crack. "No, Tae," he says, but his voice is shakier than before.

Confident he's got him, Taehyung turns up his aegyo to absolute maximum, grabbing one of Jeongguk's hands in his two larger ones, bringing them both close to his heart, his lips set in an absurdly adorable pout. " Please , Jeonggukie?"

Jeongguk caves.

"Fine," he mutters, completely powerless to anything when it comes to Taehyung. "I'll get you another one."

"Yay!" Tae squeals, releasing his boyfriend's hand so he can get up from the table.

Jeongguk holds up a finger to stop him. "Not so fast, baby. I get to do something too."

Tae cocks his head to the side, puzzled by Jeongguk's statement. "Yes?"

Jeongguk smirks down at him. "I get to feed you. Okay?"

The older boy blinks, startled by the request. But then his eyes scrunch up into little happy wrinkles, and he beams. "Okay!"

Jeongguk turns around quickly to order the ice cream, getting neapolitan at Tae's request. He asks for it in a dish this time, but with only one spoon. The younger boy slides into the same booth as his boyfriend, scooping up some of the strawberry and lifting it to the other's lips, still pink from his earlier dessert.

"Say ahh," Jeongguk says.

"Ahh," Tae replies obligingly, and Jeongguk places the spoonful in his mouth. He waits until Tae's finished, then scoops up a bit of the chocolate for himself. When he's finished, Tae tugs on his shirt sleeve incessantly, licking his lips.

"Again, again!"

And who would Jeongguk be to say no?

The quiet sigh of the shop clerk goes unnoticed by both of them. Satisfied he can slip out for a moment or two, he retreats into the back room, dialing a familiar number.

"Jin-hyung, you there?"

"Hobi! What's up?"

"You're not gonna believe the two guys I served today..."
