When Taehyung invites Jungkook back for a holiday week to meet his family during a big reunion, it doesn't even occur to Jungkook that it could be a big deal.

--

When Taehyung says, "Hey, I'm going back to spend a week with my family, come with me?", Jungkook barely blinks before he answers, "Yeah, sure, when?"

At no point does it occur to him that it's a milestone he should be concerned about.

---

Taehyung and Jungkook don't 'start dating' so much as continue on as they always have with the unspoken agreement of being exclusive with each other. They don't talk about it and it's never defined as a 'relationship' so they don't call each other boyfriends or partners or any kind of romantic term but they do everything couples do, including their new favourite hobby which is sex. There isn't a significant marker to the shift; one random day it goes from 'hangin' out almost every day because we're bros' to 'hangin' out almost every day because we're more'. They don't even notice.

If Jungkook had to pinpoint a moment, it would be this:

They're both working late in the office, still going over the presentation that's still due for tomorrow's meeting, knowing very well that Namjoon would have their head off if it wasn't prepared the first thing in the morning. It wasn't necessarily that Namjoon was too bad of a guy to work with and it's not like he wasn't a good boss, it's just that business always came first than everything else.

And their late night shift went the way it always does, with them chugging way too many mugs of coffee and joking around as they try to finish the presentation before deadline. But somehow, just like every time it works because that's how their dynamic works, because that's how Taehyung and Jungkook are supposed to be.

When they finally manage to finish with their work, it's way past midnight and they're both dead tired and ready for a real bed unlike the makeshift bed that Jungkook had settled in for which in reality was him laying his head over the desk while Taehyung checked everything twice.

Jungkook can hear Taehyung shuffling around, always the first to clear up in his haste to escape their workplace, but Jungkook feels so lethargic that he stays right there head resting against his work desk. It wasn't that he was comfortable there but he was just too tired to care.

"Jungkook? Hey, you're not up yet, bub?"
Jungkook doesn't move or even open his eyes. He hears Taehyung's footsteps approaching him and the flop of Taehyung settling beside him. "Hey Gukk, it's time to go."

Jungkook grumbles into the fabric of his shirt. Taehyung laughs, a bright sound that lightens Jungkook's mood despite his exhaustion.

"You can sleep when we're back at your apartment. It's way more comfortable there," Taehyung tells him.

"C'mon Gukk," Taehyung coaxes, "the security are gonna be wondering why we're not out yet. We can't stay the entire night here."

Jungkook groans and wiggles. His head is still mostly tucked out of sight, only tufts of his hair and a bit of his forehead visible to the open air. "Jungkook, seriously. You can't want to sleep here." He grumbles.

Jungkook doesn't, but moving out of the warm cocoon he's made isn't a fun prospect either. He hopes the disgruntled noise he makes conveys that.

Taehyung sighs over his head and there's a pause in which Jungkook wakes up a little more. He's still so sleepy that he doesn't startle when a hand settles into the strands of his hair, fingers gentle as they comb through the sleep-tousled mess. Jungkook makes another, much happier noise and arches a little bit into the contact.
