When Taehyung forgot their anniversary because of his job, it made Kookie really upset.

--

"Could you dye your hair purple for me?"

Taehyung sighs, distracted by his phone. "I wish, Kook. But you know my job doesn't allow it."

"But why?"

Taehyung shrugs. His phone buzzes, and he leaves the room to answer a call.

That morning, Jungkook is awake really early, for some reason.

"What are you doing up?"

"Well-" Jungkook begins, but Taehyung casually glances at his phone, and realizes he's already late.

"Have to go, babe. Might be home late. See you then." Leaving the room, Jungkooks face falls.

That night, Taehyung knows something is wrong as soon as he walks into their apartment. The lights are off, it is super quiet, and Taehyung can't smell any food, nor hear any music. Dropping his briefcase on the floor with a soft thud, he turns on the lights.

"Kookie?"

No one answers. A little twinge of worry starts in his chest. He walks into the kitchen, turning on the lights there as well. Looking at the kitchen counter, he sees a tiny pink note. Striding over quickly, he opens it.

Dear Taehyung,

I am going to stay with my parents for a while.

Love, Jungkook.

Taehyung frowns. Jungkook never calls him Taehyung, not even when he's supposed to. He seems sad. Why is he leaving Taehyung? What did he do? He flips the paper over, to see if anything else is written, and his heart sinks to his stomach.

Happy Anniversary.

"Hey, Mrs. Jeon."

"Taehyung! So nice to hear from you! I guess you're calling about Jungkook?"

Taehyung laughs guilty at her knowing voice. "Yeah. Um, I kinda forgot our anniversary, and I think he's sad."

He hears her sigh into the phone. "Men."

"Do you know what I should do?" He asks anxiously.

"I think its best if you figure that out. It wouldn't seem as special if you simply did what I told you to."

Taehyung grumbles a bit at that. "You're right, of course."

"I can help you, though." Taehyung brightens. "If you can plan something by tomorrow, I can promise that my husband and I will be out of the house, around six-thirty maybe? Perfect time for a romantic dinner, you know. "

"That's amazing! Thank you so much, Mrs. Jeon."

"Call me mom."

The next morning, Taehyung stands outside of a store, debating on whether or whether not to go inside.

Do it for Kookie, Taehyung.

Taking a deep breath, he walks inside.

"Hi! I'd like to buy two rings please."

The next afternoon, he calls one of his close friends.

"Hey, Jinnie."

"Taehyung! Its been so long since you've called me! Why don't you call more often?" Jin demands.
