"You don't know what you have until you lose it."
Jungkook doesn't realize what feelings he has for Taehyung until he starts missing him and feeling replaced.
--
From the start, Taehyung was everything that he wasn't.
He was an introvert, Taehyung was a social butterfly.
He was cold and detached, Taehyung was sweet and caring.
He was annoyingly a perfectionist, Taehyung was clumsy and adorable.
In spite of all their differences, ever since they met during their trainee days, they just clicked and everyone knew they're going to be best friends right away.
It's safe to say, they got along because of their differences. They sort of complemented each other.
Jungkook wouldn't have warmed up to everyone else if it wasn't for Taehyung. He is close to the rest of the members as well now, close enough to turn to them for advice about almost anything; from choosing his hair color to getting over some hateful comments.
But Taehyung is more of a soulmate. They literally do everything together and rarely disagree about something. No one can forget their excitement and cute a-bit-too-childish celebration when they found out they're going to be roommates in their new dorm. It was a funny dance that turned to be their signature celebration move for a while.
Soon enough their constant skinship wasn't surprising or disconcerting to anyone. The random hugs, the movie-night cuddles on the couch, the back hugs, and the piggybacks no longer caught any unusual attention or second stares.
They (mostly Taehyung who simply can't keep his hands to himself) still try to tone it down a bit when they are in public or in front of the camera, but they sometimes forget, or pretend to have forgotten.
They had two beds in their shared room but one of them was pushed to a cornerand is now used as couch or a place to put their dirty clothes on. Taehyung's bed was big enough for the both of them. Of course at first each of them slept on his own bed until that one night.
It had been raining all day. Taehyung didn't mind the rain, no he actually quite liked it, until it turned into a thunderstorm.
To say he was scared is an understatement. Thunder simply frightens the hell out of him.
"Jungkook?" he called once. No response. "Jungkook-ah!" he called again a bit louder this time with a pleading voice.
"Hm...?" the younger's sleepy hum came from his bed.
Taehyung kept quiet for a second.
"Hyung? Is everything okay?" Jungkook asked, lifting his head from his pillow and looking at Taehyung's direction with one open eye. The elder's bedside light was on and it was too much for Jungkook's sleepy eyes.
It was a bit silent again until Taehyung finally spoke up, "uh... T-the thunder..."
It took a few second for the younger's ears to register the sound of thunder and for realization to hit him. He was aware of his hyung's fear of thunder but he was just too tired that he fell in deep slumber the moment they got back home.
"Oh!" Jungkook sat up in his bed. "I'm so sorry, hyung! I didn't realize." He said instinctively getting off his bed and bolting toward Taehyung's.
Taehyung scooted over making room for the younger to join him. And so he did, quickly getting under the covers and wrapping his arm around Taehyung. The latter clutched the younger's t-shirt, placing his head on his chest while making childish whiny sounds that Jungkook secretly likes.
