Jeongguk is an absolute klutz.

He has broken a thousand things before, but this time, he promises he won't break Taehyung's heart.

-

Jeongguk has always been clumsy.

He has broken dinnerware, cracked his phone, tripped over his own goddamn feet— you name it, he has done it.

It's an absolute hassle, causing him trouble more often than not, but he has learnt to cope with it, or rather, accept the fact that he's always going to be a huge mess. But this time, his clumsiness has gotten him into really deep shit.

It's just past midnight, and he has a smashed cake on his kitchen floor. It's a horrifying sight, the icing smudged all over, cursive words that previously spelt 'happy birthday mom' looking more like 'helly bitchday'. It doesn't help that the words were written with red icing. And that's only the icing on the cake. Jeongguk probably looks like The Scream now, except it's less artsy and more oh my fucking god.

Maybe a cake that is smashed till it's unsalvageable isn't that big of a deal because can't his cravings wait? But it's a completely different situation because Jeongguk desperately needs the cake. His family is celebrating his mother's birthday in just a few hour's time, and he was tasked with just one thing to do: bring a birthday cake. Simple enough, but of course Jeongguk has to go ahead and mess it up.

At this very moment in his life, he wishes he heeded the advice to learn how to bake. He also wishes at least one bakery opens on Sundays, because what's with the fucking rule for all of them to have their rest day on the exact same day of the week? They are in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, not some small village, for God's sake! Then again, there's nothing he can say, except that he only has himself to blame for getting into this sticky situation.

Whipping out his phone, he sends a quick message to his friends.

Me [ 12.22 AM ]

help a bro in need, i need cake

(sent)

He doesn't like to admit it, but his group of friends is indeed a rather resourceful bunch. They've saved his life, figuratively because Jeongguk doesn't want to think of an occasion where they would have to save him literally, more than once when his clumsiness strikes, and now he's desperately praying that they are able to work a miracle once again.

Hoseok-hyung [ 12.35 AM ]

sorry! i don't know any bakery that opens on sundays

Namjoon-hyung [ 12.44 AM ]

Same, sorry Guk, can't bake either.

Yoongi-hyung [ 12.52 AM ]

same here

what shit have you gotten yourself into again?

As luck would have it, none of them knows of a bakery in the area that operates on a Sunday, and neither can they bake.

Namjoon-hyung [ 12.58 AM ]

If only Jin-hyung was here.

Jeongguk silently laments that the man, the only one amongst his group of friends who knows how to work a kitchen and prepare a ridiculously good lava cake, is off on a college exchange program to Japan.

It's nearly half past one in the morning and Jeongguk is on the brink of giving up. He has even composed a message to his family, detailing his misfortunes and a certain inedible cake, as he mentally prepares for the disappointed looks on their faces.
