Taehyung and Yoongi are invited to Jimin's birthday party, but the former isn't looking forward to it for multiple reasons. First of all, it's October and the weather is freezing . Secondly, it just so happens that Jimin shares the apartment with Jungkook. The same Jungkook who had just returned to the country a few days ago.

Ah, right. The same Jungkook that broke up with Taehyung months ago.

Their giggles fill the room, weaving between their interlaced legs before bouncing off the walls, and only ceasing when their lips meet each other's. Taehyung sighs breathlessly as he rests his head against Jungkook's chest, the other tightly holding his waist atop the oversized shirt he borrowed, his hand a comforting weight. Taehyung listens to Jungkook's heart beating under him, and he can hear the gentle thudding of music harmoniously playing in time.

Taehyung can't remember what the song's called, or who's voice croons over the filtered drums and the jazz piano. It's most likely from one of Jungkook's playlists. One thing that Taehyung learnt soon after he started dating Jungkook was that he makes the most specific lists of songs. He does have a few favourites though, such as 'eating spaghetti in the candle-lit kitchen at 9pm on a wednesday evening because you forgot to pay the bills again' and 'holding onto the bike for dear life as you both ride down the hill at a speed so fast you think you're in a police chase movie'.

His favourites are the ones that really happened, and that Taehyung had been involved with in some way. After Jungkook's electricity had cut out (he swore he paid his bills) Taehyung bought over his leftover spaghetti for him. The only candles that Jungkook had were scented ones that were gifts from his roommate and best friend Jimin - who had happened to be away at the time, something Jungkook was still grateful for to this day. It was a little disorientating, and sickening to the stomach, as the smell of spaghetti mingled with the sweet buttery-rich vanilla scent of cookies. But it was endearing, and Taehyung didn't even care when he saw the glow of Jungkook's dimples as he munched eagerly on the meatballs.

As for the bike playlist, it was a late afternoon when they decided they wanted to go to watch the sunset at the park, but that meant getting therebefore the sunset. Thus, what ensued was a 50mph bike ride with Jungkook gripping onto Taehyung for dear life whilst praying they wouldn't die or be arrested. In the end, Jungkook did fall off the bike, but only when Taehyung pulled to a sudden stop to let an old lady cross the road. Taehyung remembered cooing at Jungkook who had pouted through his tears while the other covered his scratches with Hello Kitty stickers. Jungkook had refused to remove them later that evening, saying that it was too risky, and his scratches were too susceptible to infection - but Taehyung knew it was because Jungkook thought the stickers were cute and maybe Taehyung was weak for his clingy, affection-seeking boyfriend.

Jungkook's voice brought him back to the present, and Taehyung barely made out the stifled voice that mumbled into his hair. Taehyung tilts his head up slightly.

'What you say, love?' Taehyung says as he looks into Jungkook's eyes, blank and void of emotion, and chills run down his spine.

'I said,' His voice is clipped and suddenly the grip on Taehyung's waist feels too tight. Too bruising and stifling that Taehyung finds that he can't breathe. 'I can't be with you anymore. It's over.'

Taehyung's eyes snap open, gasping as he shoots upright in his bed. He pants, trying to catch his breath as he feels sweat gathering at the back of his neck. There's ringing in his ears, and his eyes are blurry with sleep and burning with tears that choke up in his throat. He quickly rubs away the wetness on his eyelashes, refusing to let the tears fall. Eventually his ringing quietens and his breathing settles, albeit still a little shaken. He glances at the cool light that dimly shines through his curtains, and he shudders before pulling at his duvet to cocoon himself.
