Taehyung is once again reminded of how he's not an omega, of how he'll never be enough for Jeongguk.

~

In a world dominated by alphas, betas and omegas, humans are treated like dirt. Taehyung was well aware of the fact because he was a human. Even though omegas were inferior in their kind, they were still superior than humans. As a child, Taehyung didn't face many difficulties— in fact he had many omega and beta friends he played with but when they all grew up so did their ranks. The omega's had alphas to protect them, the betas had other betas and the humans— the already inferior species were left in the dust.

Even though Taehyung was bubbly, talkative and outgoing as a child, he slowly closed off as he grew up. The already small walls he built around himself as a child slowly rose higher and higher until it was difficult for him to look out or for anyone else to look in for that matter.

Slowly, he started hating himself— hating himself for being a human, for being born like this. He started feeling insecure among those strong, muscular alphas, the pretty omegas and the know it all betas.

Just when he was at a delicate age of 19, when things started to get a little too difficult for him— emotionally and mentally, he met Jeongguk.

It started when the alpha asked him if he could sit beside him. Taehyung had obviously been intimidated, even though the alpha didn't look scary, didn't look like he'd snap taehyung's neck for disrespecting— Taehyung still felt small and scared as he nodded, agreeing.

"Hello, I'm Jeongguk." He'd said, flashing taehyung a smile.

Taehyung for a moment had been shocked that the alpha had decided to talk to him first, he almost thought that the alpha was talking to someone behind him but when Jeongguk's smile has dimmed a little as he asked "what's your name?" Taehyung had known it's him, and he knew better than to ignore or disrespect.

"I'm Taehyung." He had finally replied.

Later, Taehyung had found out that Jeongguk was two years younger to him. He'd been new and shy as he followed Taehyung around everywhere, asking questions eagerly and blushing when he had been embarrassed, Taehyung almost wondered if the guy was really an alpha or just looked like one.

"I'm a human." Taehyung had said one day, eyes blank and face indifferent with a hint of confusion when Jeongguk furrowed his eyebrows, lips pulling into a frown.

"So?" Jeongguk had asked, startling Taehyung. Taehyung had been taken aback at that time, wondering what the alpha's intentions where.

"Why are you hanging out with me?" Taehyung had asked.

Jeongguk had only frowned deeper, shoulders tensed and eyes dark as he had taken a step closer to Taehyung "I can't?"

Taehyung had gulped anxiously while shaking his head "I'm practically dirt. Why would you want to associate yourself with me?"

Jeongguk had wanted to say a lot of things at that time, but he had just smiled and said "if you're dirt then I'm a trash bag."

Taehyung had finally laughed after a long— long time.

Jeongguk had stuck with Taehyung like a constant shadow after that. Taehyung had started treating Jeongguk as a friend after that. A Friend. His first friend.

If Taehyung really looked at Jeongguk, he could see how the younger was rather shy than dominating and intimidating. How his nose was a little too big for his face ( in the most endearing way ) or how he had some baby fat left on his cheeks despite have a strong jawline.
