People in high school have been making fun of Jeongguk for being a nerd. On the first day of his senior year, Kim Taehyung, the most popular guy at school sits next to him. Taehyung slowly makes his way into Jeongguk's life just like he made his way into his heart because Jeongguk's had a crush on him since freshman year. Little does he know that Taehyung's had his eyes on him for even longer time and finally decided to do something about it.
They become friends, helping Jimin and Hoseok get together and in the months of their new friendship, their bond only grows stronger. One day, Jeongguk receives hateful messages and threats, telling him to leave Taehyung alone. Taehyung gets furious and the whole situation leads to confessions and the tension between them breaks.

Jeongguk sat down in the classroom, in the middle of the room because that was the safest space. Other students started flooding the classroom, no one was really eager to sit with him because he was not exactly talkative and people labelled him as a nerd since he was really smart and curious. He didn't mind though, he just minded his own business, wondering what the last year of high school will bring.
That is why he didn't notice that someone came up to him and he got startled when that someone threw a backpack on the desk. Jeongguk looked up and his eyes widened when he spotted Kim Taehyung, the King of the school. Taehyung was in every club imaginable, he was really smart but he was also outgoing and really popular. He looked great after the summer break, his skin was tanned and hair freshly dyed blonde. Needless to say that Jeongguk had a bit of a crush on his classmate, he was just beautiful and Jeongguk wanted to hold his hand and kiss him all over. Alright, scratch that, Jeongguk had a big crush on him.
"Um, hey, is the seat taken?" Taehyung spoke up unsurely which was a weird occurrence.
"Y-yeah, of course," Jeongguk finally found his words.
"I just really don't wanna sit in the front, you know the teachers always have eyes on you there and there are only weirdoes in the back," the blonde explained as he slipped to the chair.
"Well, most people think I am a weirdo. You don't mind sitting with a nerd? It might ruin your reputation," Jeongguk scoffed. He knew what people were saying about him.
"I don't care," Taehyung shrugged with a small smile: "I think you are nice and just because you are smart doesn't mean that people should make fun of you."
Jeongguk was in awe. Not that he'd think that Taehyung was an asshole, quite the opposite actually. Surprisingly, despite being the most popular guy in the school, Taehyung was really sweet and never made fun of anyone but he was usually hanging out with Jimin and other popular kids.
The teacher entered the classroom and everyone fell silent. Jeongguk looked at Taehyung from the corner of his eyes. The blonde caught his gaze and gave him a warm, boxy grin. Suddenly Jeongguk thought that the senior year might not be that bad.

"Well, I don't know what are you complaining about? This is your chance, Guk! You've had crush on Taehyung since like forever, now you can get to know him and who knows, maybe you'll hit it off," Hoseok wiggled his eyebrows, grinning at his friend teasingly but Jeongguk knew that there was a support behind that.
They were sitting in the cafeteria during the lunch break. They usually sat alone, no one was really keen on sitting with them, despite Hoseok being quite popular. Jeongguk knew that his reputation was dragging his friend down but whenever he brought it up to Hoseok, he told him to shut up, that there was no way he'd stop talking to him just because people were judgy assholes.
"Says someone who's had a crush on Jimin for ages. I haven't seen you doing anything about it," Jeongguk folded arms on his chest.
"Well, he didn't sit next to me in the class, did he?" Hoseok glared at him.
