Someday, It Will All Be Okay

Taehyung and Jungkook are in a long-distance relationship. They both attend different universities and unfortunately can't see each other very often. Because of the distance, they have to rely on phone communication to keep up with one another. When Taehyung starts to notice that Jungkook calls less and less, he worries that Jungkook's heart is wavering.

---

Taehyung stares down at his phone sitting on his leg. He twiddles his fingers, debating in his head on whether he should pick it up and make a call. He's been like this for the past few hours...no, more like days. Weeks. It's been weeks since Jungkook has texted or called him. Not even a selfie on Snapchat?

This was getting ridiculous. How busy could the other possibly be? Sure, it was finals week for both them and Taehyung was sure Jungkook had just as many assignments and projects to tend to as he did. But if Taehyung had time to relax and laze around, then why didn't Jungkook? Or maybe he did, and he chose to use that time to do something that didn't include talking to his boyfriend...who lives hours away at a different college...

Taehyung gives a sharp smack to his cheeks, sighing. He gazes around his small apartment, his eyes pausing on a framed picture of him and Jungkook. They have their arms around each other, Jungkook giving him a kiss on the cheek while Taehyung has a surprised look on his face. Taehyung starts to smile at the memory, but falters as he remembers how long ago they'd taken that picture. When was the last time they'd had a week-long visit with one another? A visit to themselves, most of all?

If Taehyung managed to find a weekend he could drive over to his college, they still had to deal with his roommate. It wasn't like he didn't like Jimin. In fact, Taehyung got along really well with him. It was just very hard to get any "alone time" with Jungkook, since he was usually there. Which he couldn't blame the other for. He did live there, after all. Taehyung was grateful to Jimin for being so accepting of their relationship and allowing him to stay over when he visited. They were able to find privacy if Jungkook came over to Taehyung's private apartment, but that was a pretty rare occurrence. Jungkook didn't have a license or a car, and Taehyung couldn't drive three hours to pick him up and bring him back, just to have to make the same round trip the next day. If they had a whole week to visit, it would be possible. But the Fall semester didn't offer many holiday breaks. So most of their visits had to be spent at Jungkook's dorm.

About a month has passed since their last weekend visit. They'd had a few text conversations and maybe a call or two within the first week of Taehyung returning home. But then, Taehyung had noticed the slow decrease of communication. Taehyung had been the only one reaching out to the other. At some point, Taehyung stopped sending him his usual cute messages to see if Jungkook would contact him first.

He never did.

Taehyung wanted to believe that Jungkook was just busy with schoolwork or something. Maybe it just slipped his mind? But he was his boyfriend. Why would he forget his boyfriend? A day or two was one thing, but weeks?

Was something wrong? Was Jungkook...drifting away from him? Did he not care about him anymore?

"Arrrgghhh!" Taehyung yells, pulling at his hair. "I'll never know if I don't just call him!"

And with that, Taehyung picks up his phone and clicks on Jungkook's number. He waits, tapping his foot impatiently against the tile floor, the sound reverberating around the living room. His heart thumps hard against his chest, each beep making him more anxious. Would he pick up?

Just when Taehyung thinks he isn't going to answer, he hears a voice on the other end.

"Hello? Tae?"
