"Are you telling me that you're tired of me in a subtle way because you can't say these things bluntly?"

"Christ," Taehyung blurts out, taken aback by the edge in Jungkook's voice. "I love you, Jeon Jungkook."

"Me too," Jungkook fights back just as hard, "Then why are you telling me to go on a date with someone who's not you?"

----

"Hi," Jungkook opens the door to Taehyung's room just enough to let himself in, then promptly closes it behind him.

"Hi, how's your day?"

He shrugs off his jacket and climbs into the bed next to Taehyung. The only difference is he stays above the blanket while Taehyung himself is comfortably tucked under the covers. "Same old, same old. Better now that I've seen your face."

"You're gross," Taehyung pushes at his muscular shoulders, unsurprised when Jungkook doesn't even move an inch from the force.

Jungkook nuzzles Taehyung's cheek with his nose. "You love it."

"I heard you got asked out today," he brings up lightly.

Namjoon had texted Taehyung at lunch to give his daily report since Taehyung asked him to keep an eye on Jungkook in class. There must be an ethics code violated somewhere when he asked a TA to spy on one of his students, but he doesn't think his boyfriend would press charges if he ever finds out. His initial reaction to Namjoon's message was: oh, cool, apparently people other than him also appreciate the magnificent being Jungkook truly is. Then, as he stared at the text over his cold mac n' cheese, his mood soured and the relief turned into musings of exactly how many people had approached Jungkook without him knowing and how many of them Jungkook was inclined to say yes to if Taehyung himself wasn't in the picture.

"Namjoon-hyung told you?" Jungkook quickly connects the dots. "It was just a girl from my Physics class."

Taehyung asks him as casually as he can manage, "What did you say?"

"What? What did you think I said?"

"No?"

Jungkook laughs and kisses Taehyung's temple. "Smart man. That's exactly it."

"What did you want to say?"

That stops Jungkook's fingers from carding their way through Taehyung's brown locks. "Is this a trick question? I don't think my boyfriend would like it very much if I were to say yes."

Taehyung is fully aware that he should stop talking before he finds himself in a bigger mess, but the ache in his heart isn't going to go away if he merely ignores it. "And if your boyfriend tells you he's okay with it?"

"Tae, what's going on?" Jungkook moves away from him, sitting upright on the bed. His face, his handsome face that Taehyung hasn't been able to look away from in five years, grows more serious by each passing second.

Taehyung reaches out a hand to cup his face, a delicate attempt to calm his boyfriend down. "I mean, there's no harm to it, Kookie. You might have some fun, you know, get to know new people. If you hang out with me and the others too much, you'll die much faster."

Jungkook closes his eyes and leans into Taehyung's touch, which makes the next thing that comes out of his mouth that much more unpredictable.
