105. God Given Sign

Edward was asleep on the side of Maymay's bed. He was unable to fight the heaviness of his eyes.

Edward is sleeping soundly. He is in a happy place.
He's relieving every moment he had with his wife.

All the laughter, passion and frustrations. Every word exchanged and every touch between them is on replay through his mind.

Each second, each step they've taken together and each time their lips have met. He didn't miss a moment.

From the moment she stepped into his office on that yellow dress, he knew he needs to get her somehow.

And after, he knew he is destined to be with her.

'My beautiful man is dreaming.'

He didn't recognize the voice at first but he knew they were her words. So he knows it her.

'Dale?'

'Yes. Ako nga.' Unti unting naglakad si Maymay papunta sa kanya.

'Oh my God! Oh my God! You're back.' Napaluhod si Edward sa saya.

'No. I am not.' Sabi nito sa kanya kaya napatingala si Edward upang hanapin ang mukha ni Maymay.

'Bakit? Bakit hindi?'

'Cause I don't know it I will be able to make it.' Sabi nito sa kanya.

'Kaya mo yan Dale. Kaya mo yan. You're a strong woman! You can do it.' Pangungumbinsi niya sa asawa.

Tumango tangi si Maymay sa sinabi ni Edward. 'In case I won't be able to make it, can you promise me one thing?!'

'No I won't promise anything cause you are not going anywhere. No Dale. No!' Mariing pahayag ni Edward.

'Shhhhhhh. Please? Can I ask you to do one thing for me?' Sabi ni Dale sa kanya.

'Nooooo! Nooooo!' Ipinikit ni Edward ang mga mata at tinakpan ang tainga.

Naupo si Maymay upang makita ang mukha ni Edward ng harapan. Sinapo niya ang mukha nito at pinilit na tumingin sa kanya.

'Please take care of the twins for me.' Sabi ni Maymay.

'Pay them a visit. They need their Daddy too you know.' Pahabol nito.

'And please. Please tell them I love them. That I love them so much and how I wish I can hug them.'

'Stop it. Stop it Dale!!! Stop!'

'And you. I love you. From then. To now. To always. I love you.'

Then she started to turn away from him.

A loud bleeping sound stunned him from his sleep and his head flies up and then he find her eyes still closed and her hands are where it's supposed to be. one in his hand and the other draped lifelessly by her side.

But the loud bleeping sound continues and when he looked on the machine, Maymay's blood pressure is dangerously low at 60/40 and heart beating rate at 180.

Soon after the doctor and nurses camre rushing into her room and he was asked to step aside.

The doctor hooked her up to what he refers to is the 'last-chance-ventilator.' He looked at her while everyone tries to stabilize her vitals but that sound of the ventilator everytime it pumps air into her lungs is too strong thay it rattles her hospital bed.

Edward couldn't bare to see how much suffering his wife is experiencing so he decided to step out of the room.

He sat on the chair just outside her room with head on his palms, unknown of what to do.
