3. THE MASTERMIND

Pagdating ni Maymay sa opisina ay agad agad na niyang inayos ang mga papeles na kailangang mapirmahan ni Edward.

She has been working for Edward and for their family's company for almost a year.

She was a fresh graduate when she started. No one wants to take an applicant who doesn't have an experience but the ELM Tree Group made an exception.

To her surprise she didn't even have to look for a job. The job looked for her. She posted her resume' on a job finder website and after a few weeks he received an invitation for an interview. Shocked at the turn of events, she prepped herself for the interview. She wore an A skirt which falls just below her knee and her lucky blue long sleeves which she folded before her elbows. Sabi ng mama niya kagalang galang daw siya kapag ito ang suot niya.

She was interviewed by Mr. Kevin Barber. The Chairman of the company. Much to her surprise, she had been accepted.

As per Mr. Barber, the job will be a bit more stressful than just being an assistant. She will have to look after his son and make sure that he attends the meeting when he is required to. That he will get himself out of unnecessary controversies. That he will not be mixed up with work and playing around.

Those were the exact words Mr. Barber asked her to do.

As per Mr. Barber. His son started working for the company 2 years ago, that was then, 3 years at the present.

His son have had 12 assistants in total before me.

4 quitted cause they couldn't take Edward's stubborness.

And the 8?!

Well you guessed it right.

It's either he slept with them or they fell in love with him and got broken. I don't know the ratio but as per the rumor, he slept with all of them and all of them fell in love with him.

That is the reason why it was Mr. Kevin Barber who did the recruitment. To hire someone he thinks his son couldn't even dream of sleeping around with.

And yep, that's me! I am that girl!

I wasn't surprised at all when I saw Edward for the first time.

He really looks like an angel stuck in machete's body.

His jawline is so crisp.

His cheekbones are so sharp.

And his nose, oh my God his nose. His nose is to die for.

I would admit I had a crush on him.

That didn't last. Probably a week.

After I saw what kind of a jerk he is towards women? Nunkang magugustuhan ko siya.

Galit kasi ako sa mga lalaking manloloko. Dahil ganun ang ginawa ng tatay ko sa nanay ko.

Iniwan niya kami. At alam ko gaano naging kasakit iyon para kay Mama. Pero imbis na magmukmok si Mama at hilumin ang puso, nagpasya siyang mag-ibang bansa dahil kailangan niya maging ama at ina ng sabay! Kailangan niyang maibigay ang pangangailangan naming magkapatid. Ako at ang Kuya ko ang tanging naiwan dito sa Pilipinas. Kinailangan naming mabuhay ng kaming dalawa lang kahit bata pa kami noon.

Mabuti na lang talaga at sinwerte si Mama sa ibang bansa. Nakapagpatayo kami ng business sa probinsya at hindi na niya kinailangang umalis pa.

Dun na din kami kumuha ng pinang-aral namin ni Kuya. Pero kahit pa maganda naman ang takbo ng business namin sa probinsya. Ginusto ko pa ding pumunta ng Maynila.

Ito yung pangarap ko eh. Yung may sarili akong career.

Kaya tyina-tyaga ko ang pagiging assistant sa boss ko. Dahil kailangan ko ng magandang review kung sakaling maghahanap ako ng ibang trabaho.

Nagising si Maymay sa pagbabalik tanaw ng marinig niyang nagbukas sarado ang pinto sa opisina ng boss niya.

'Tss. Didn't even bother to say hello!' Bulong ni Maymay sa sarili.

Dali dali naman siyang tumayo at sumilip sa pinto nito.

'Need coffee?' Tanong niya.

'Yes.' Tipid nitong sagot habang binabasa ang mga papeles na nasa lamesa nito.

Sanay na siya sa ganoong asta ng boss. Pag nasa opisina ito ay halos hindi ito nagsasalita o kumikibo. Masungit. Hindi marunong mag please.

Pero once natapos na ang mga trabaho nito bigla itong nagttransform into an 18y.o playful boy.

Pagkahatid ni Maymay ng kape ni Edward ay hinayaan niya muna itong magbasa at magpababa ng kung ano mang klaseng hangover ang meron ito but when the clock striked 8:50 AM she went inside again to get him.

'Sir, it's time.' Tawag niya dito. Agad agad namang tumayo ito at sumunod kay Maymay palabas ng kwarto.

Pagbukas ng elevator ay hinarang ni Edward ang kamay sa pinto nito. 'After you.' Sabay sumenyas na maunang pumasok si Maymay.

'Well look at you! Finally learning your manners sir!' Nakangiting tugon ni Maymay sa ipinakita ng amo.

'Had a great night last night to be frowning today Miss Entrata.' He smiled back at her showing her his perfect white teeth.

'I bet you do! I also bet you don't even remember their names or if you do, you don't know who's who.' Pang-aasar naman ni Maymay sa binata.

'Remind me again why should I have to learn their names? Oh thats right. I don't cause their names doesn't even matter.' He rolled his eyes at her.

'But seriously Mr. Barber? 2 gurls? TWO GURLS IN A NIGHT????! You're sick!' Maymay pretended like she's about to throw up.

'What? Stop judging me! They offered. I obliged. You know I am weak when it comes to those type of offers.' Sagot naman nito pabalik kay Maymay.

Sasagot pa sana muli ang dalaga ng nagbukas ang elevator.

Ipinagbukas muli ni Edward ng pintuan si Maymay.

At laking gulat ni Edward ng makitang wala pang tao roon maliban sa kanyang Ama.

'Good Morning you two.' Bati ng matanda sa dalawa.

Niyakap nito si Maymay at ganun din si Edward.

'What the?' Kunot noong tanong ni Edward habang nakatingin kay Maymay.

'What? Stop judging me. He asked. I obliged. You know I am weak with those kind of offers.' Natatawang sagot nito kay Edward.

'See you later Mr. Barber. I'll leave you 2 first and will get back once the meeting started.'

Kumaway ito bago lumabas ng pinto. Bago tuluyang makalabas ay kitang kita nito ang mata ni Edward na naniningkit sa kanya.

She can't help but laugh!
