104. Wake up, May.

Hindi alam ni Edward kung anong klaseng lakad takbo ang gagawin upang mapuntahan ang doktor ni Maymay.

Not that he doesn't trust what his father said but he needs it to come from the source. So then he could ask if it was a joke.

The doctor said that the operation had been successful and that she will just be in the recovery room to regain her strength.

Nang marating ni Edward ang opisina ng doktor ni Maymay ay walang salita ang lumabas sa bibig niya.

Sa mata pa lamang ng doktor na sumalubong sa kanya ay alam na niya na ang balitang ipinagdadasal niya na maging isang kalokohan ay isang katotohanan.

'What happened?!' a despair can be heard from his voice.

The Doctor told him that Maymay's lungs were quickly filling with flyid and that she is having troubles breathing on her own.

'There's a blod clot on her leg and her weight is what's holding the blod clot in place but as soon as she delivered, the clot migrated to her lung quickly which caused a pulmonary embolism.'

'Is that serious? I mean what's gonna happen?!' Walang naintindihan si Edward sa sinabi ng doktor.

He only needs a confirmation from him.

'Is she gonna make it?'

Saka naman dumating na ang kanyang pamilya at ang nanay ni Maymay.

'In truth - we don't know yet.'

At duon na unti unting bumigay ang nanghihina nang si Edward.

He looked for a familiar face and when he saw his mom welcoming him in open arms, he grabbed it and hugged her mom tight while crying through her shoulders.

'Doc, please do everything that you can.' Sabi ni Kevin.

'Doc matapang po si Maymay. Kakayanin po niya ito. Hindi siya susuko. Wag niyo din po siya susukuan.' Ang sabi naman ni Lorna.

'We will do our very best.' Sabi nito.

'Can we see her?' Tanong ni Kevin. Alam niyang iyon ang gustong mangyari ng anak.

'Yes. You can now see her. Follow me.' Sabi ng doktor nito.

It had been a few days since Maymay has fell on a coma and up to that date, there still hasn't been any progress.

Hindi magawang puntahan ni Edward ang mga anak na nasa new born nursery ng hospital.

He's torn between the love he feels for them and the thought that they may have been a possible cause for him losing the love of his life.

His life.

He misses her so badly. It had been days since she last seen her beautiful eyes.

Those past few days had been the longest days of his life.

He feels miserable. Lost. Helpless.

The only sense of comforts him is seeing her beautiful face and feeling her skin while she lays in there.

He has not left her bedside. He showered in seconds when his Mom or her Mom physically puts him in there.

He doesn't want to miss the chance to see any sign that she's still with them. The chance for them to be together again or the chance for them to be a family.

Walang lumipas na oras na hindi nanalangin si Edward na magising na si Maymay.

Walang lumilipas na oras na hindi niya ito hinahalikan.

He's hoping that the feel of his lips on her skin will spark something.

But it hasn't.

Each day, his heart slows more. His eyes becomes sorer.

And though he has not seen their twins, he also feels for them.

The cruelty of the possibility of them not meeting their mom is just too hard to accept.

'Edward kumain ka na.'

Hindi napansin ni Edward ang pagpasok ni Mama Lorna sa kwarto ni Maymay.

'Ayaw ko po. Wala po akong gana.' Matamlay niyang sagot.

'Edward hindi maganda yang ginagawa mo.' Mahinahon na sabi ng ginang.

'Wala ka halos kinakain. Eh paano kung magkasakit ka din?'

'Please Ma, wala po talaga akong gana.' Mariing sagot ni Edward habang hawak pa rin ang kamay ni Maymay at ang tingin niya'y nakatuon lamang dito.

'Ay sya. Bahala ka ha. Ililista ko lahat ng katigasan ng ulo mo. Pag nagising si Maymay ipapakita ko sa kanya lahat para makagalitan ka.'

Halatang malungkot din si Mama Lorna sa nangyari sa anak pero kailangan niyang maging matatag at tulungan si Edward.

Edward appreciated Mama Lorna so much. Her, mentioning what Maymay could do once she wakes up uplifted him.

'Sige na nga po. Basta wag niyo ko isusumbong ha.' Sabi nito.

'Sige hindi kita isusumbong.' Nakangiti namang tugon ng ginang.

Sumunod na si Edward sa ginang at kumain na ito.

After his lunch, he prepared the breast pump the nurse gave him. He was taught how to pump his wife's breast milk for their babies and in the hopes that she will wake up, she can breastfeed their babies too.

Ilang minuto pa ay sunod sunod ng nagdatingan ang iba pa niyang pamilya.

Everyone asking if he's okay and he just nodded.

For him, it's easier to bob his head up and down than side to side which he knows will be followed by a few sympathy and such which is not what he needed.

'Umuwi ka na muna kaya? Magpahinga ka. Kami na muna magbabantay dito.' Sabi ng kanyang ina.

Umiling lamang si Edward.

'Sige na. Ihahatid ka na namin tas tatawagan ka agad ni Mommy pag may update.' Singit naman ni Luis.

'I said no! I am not going anywhere without Dale!' Halos pasigaw na sabi nito.

Wala namang nagawa ang mga kapamilya ni Edward. They know how stubborn he canbe and with the situation he's currently at, they understand him fully.

Tinapik na lamang siya ng ama sa balikat.

'Okay. Just call us if you need anything.' Sabi nito.

'I will.' Sagot naman ni Edward na bahagyang nahimasmasan.

Nang maiwanan mag-isa sa loob ng kwarto ni Maymay ay muli niyang kinausap ang asawa.

'Love, wake up.' Pagmamakaawa niya dito habang haplos haplos ang buhok nito.

'Wake up please. I need you. I love you.'

Alam niyang naririnig siya ni Maymay. Hindi niya kailanman pagsasawaan na ipaalam sa kanya kung gano niya ito kamahal, sumagot man sya o hindi.
