4. THE MEETING

After 30 mins. I decided to go back inside the meeting room after having my cup of coffee.

Kailangan ko yun dahil I am pretty sire after the stunt I pulled on with Edward, it's gonnaaaaaa beeeeee a looooong daaaaaay!

I noticed that a few of the board members are already headed towards the same meeting room so I hurried myself up.

Edward has a reserved seat for me beside him, as always. You couldn't expect the jerk to be taking notes, could you?

I sat on my chair and crossed my leg as I fire up my laptop to start taking notes for THE BOSS.

Once a month, held every Monday there is a board meeting that happens. To check up on ongoing projects and to have a run through of the revenue the company made in the past month.

I must admit that though Edward is such a pig when it comes to women and his social life, he is a beast when it comes to business.

Every opportunity given to him to run or close a project is guaranteed millions for the company.

'We have a lot of talking to do later Miss Entrata.' My boss whispered a little close to my ears.

'My ears are always open for you Mr. Barber!' I turned to him and was taken a back as I notice that his face is only a few inches from mine.

'Like what you see?' He asked.

'Yup and it ended as soon as you opened your mouth.' I retorted.

As soon as the meeting have been finished I was asked by Mr. Barber (the senior) to stay.

'What will you be plotting this time?' Asked by the son.

'Nothing that concerns you. You may leave.' Answered by the father.

A defeated Edward walked stubbornly towards the door and left.

'Dale. Come here.' Tawag sa akin ni Tito Kevin. Yup, he asked me to call him that when it's only the 2 of us or atleast when we are not within office premises.

As asked, lumapit ako sa kanya.

'Thank you for making sure I get to talk to Edward before the board meeting.' Nakangiting sabi nito.

'That's what I am being paid to do.' Nakangiti ring sagot ko sa kanya.

'No Dale. I'm serious. Thank you for keeping up wih him and keeping him on his feet.' Suddenly Tito Kevin looked serious like what he said he is.

'Well, your son can really be a "sorry for the term Tito" pain in the the ass but I have to do what I have to do. You trusted me so much with a lot of things and that's the least I can do. It isn't easy though but I 'm still alive.' Natatawa kong sagot sa matanda.

'He really is a pig most of the time. You're the only one who lasted with him and I hope we can keep you longer than possible.' He touched my hand to show how sincere he is.

'Thanks Tito and to Tita Cathy of course. You're a constant reminder that I am doing my job well.' Sagot ko naman dito.

'Speaking of your Tita Cathy, she asked me to ask you if you can have dinner with us on Friday. Are you free?' Tanong nito.

'A single lady is always free on a Friday, Tito.' Natatawa kong sagot dito.

'I wonder why. You are such a catch. I must admit I hired you because you don't look appealing the first time I met you but look at you now. Plus that character. If my son is not a jerk I would ask him to date you.'

'Oh please Tito. Spare me.'

I rolled my eyes at the thought of me dating Edward. He is the most self-righteous, pompous jerk I had ever met in my entire life. I'd listen to all of the women in the office whisper and giggle about him because even I had to admit that he is drop-dead gorgeous but if anyone had common sense, you would realize early in life that beauty is only skin deep, and ugly goes straight to the bone.

'Hahaha. You go get yourself a man Dale!' Natatawang sagot ni Tito Kevin as he stood up and I take it that our small talk is over. He hugged me again and I did too. He kissed me on the cheek as a gesture of goodbye.

Agad agad naman akong bumaba papunta sa desk ko.

Hindi pa ako nakakaupo ay nagbukas na ang pinto ni Edward.

'Mary Dale! My office now!' He said with a straight face.

I blew of my bangs away from my eyes and let out a deep sigh! 'Here we gooo.'

'What's with the set up?' Bungad niya sa akin.

'What set up?' I have to play the dumb card

'Me. Dad. 9:00. Ring a bell?' Iritadong tanong niya

'Ohhh. That set up. Well he said he wanted to talk to you about your scandal last week. I assumed you wouldn't want to talk about it, even more talk about it with him. Thus, the set up.'

'I was caught off guard. Have I known it's about that scandal I could have prepared.' Pabalik balik sa paglalakad si Edward. And I know dahil ito sa inis niya sa akin.

'You are always prepared. I saw all the condoms you have on your drawer. Did that didn't protect you from The Chairman?' I retorted.

'Funny. Remind me again why shouldn't I fire you?!' He suddenly sat on his chair.

This is the question that he have asked me multiple times now.

'Uhm. As a starter, I am the best at my job. Second. I'm the only one who stayed. Third, you got no one else.' I showed her my 3 fingers in the air.

'Is there a fourth?' Tanong niya.

'Yeah! You're not the one who hired me. You're Dad did so you do not have the right to fire me. Now, Mr. Barber, is there anything else I can do for you?' I asked with a very wide smile.

'None!' He answered in defeat.

'Good! I shall now take my leave. Ring me when you need anything.'

I swayed my hips a little extra while walking to the door just to piss him off some more.
