36. CONFESSION

The ride around the island was fun but tiring.

Edward was just observing how Maymay acts around Tanner and how carefree she was with him the whole time they were out.

She smiles, she laughs and she would joke around. They would constantly tease each other na sasakyan naman ng kapatid ni Maymay.

He just had been staring at her and he would constantly see her glancing his way too.

On their way home, Vincent invited them for a drink which they all agreed to.

They stopped by a local pub which looks liks a big nipa hut. The chairs and table on the inside are made with bamboo.

The waitress ushered them to a small table with a chair on every side. Vincent is seated near Tanner and Edward while Maymay was seated across from him.

Umorder agad si Vincent ng ilang bote ng beer na agad namang nai-serve sa table nila.

Edward was just silent the whole time while the 3 enjoyed talking about how Maymay and Vincent grew up.

Vincent told them about how Maymay was bullied when she was younger because she looks like a weakling. He also told them how he ends up everytime on the guidance office because of it.

He also told them that Maymay never attended any prom cause no one invited her and she doesn't want to come alone. That he even asked her to go to the prom with him but she declined cause she doesn't want to be a laughing stock and be tagged as the 'girl who dated his brother to the prom cause no one want's to date her.'

Hearing all the things that Vincent told them made him ask how Maymay suddenly turned from that weakling to the strong person she is today.

Hearing those from Vincent made him want to turn back the time and be the person to protect her from all the mockery and ridicule she have received.

He somehow felt the need to be her hero. Her protector. Her shield.

Napatingin siya kay Maymay and behind the strong personality she is showing him. He sees a little girl from the inside of her crying.

Kaya pala it was such a huge issue with her kapag may ibang babae sa paligid niya. Cause she feels insecure. She thinks she isn't enough for him.

'What?' Tanong ni Maymay sa kanya.

Umiling lang si Edward.

'Stop looking at me like that.' Sita ni Maymay sa kanya.

'Looking like what?' Tanong ni Edward.

'Like you pity me. Like I am some girl that needs anyones protection. I don't need to be protected.'

'I know you don't.' Sagot naman ni Edward.

'But I want to.' Sa isip isip nito.

Irap lamang ang isinagot ni Maymay sa kanya.

The 3 continuously talk while he observes and he noticed that the more Tanner drinks, the more touchy he has become.

He would see him constantly rubbing Maymay's back or squueze her shoulders. He let those go.

Then he saw him resting his hand on Maymay's leg just on top of her knee. Though Maymay didn't seem to care, hindi niya na yun pinalagpas.
