10. THE SET UP

Nasa desk niya si Maymay at gumagawa ng kontrata para sa nalalapit na proyekto nila sa Camiguin.

If anyone is excited about it, it's her. Matagal tagal na din kasi siyang hindi nakakauwi sa kanila at ng dahil sa proyekto ay magkakaroon siya ng pagkakataong maka bisita.

She was smiling from ear to ear when Mr. Barber got out of his sonms office followed by Edward.

'Someone's in a good mood today.' Bati nito kay Maymay.

'Your son locked himself in his office and not being a bother today so who wouldn't?' Sagot naman ni Maymay dito na nakapag pangiti sa matanda.

'You really are a sunshine Dale. By the way, don't forget our dinner later. Your Tita Cathy is expecting you.' Paalala nito kay Maymay.

'Oh yeah. That's tonight isn't it?'

'Tell Tita Cathy not to worry. I'll be there even before she knows it.' Nakangiting sagot nito sa matanda.

'You are having dinner?' Singit ni Edward na nasa likod ng ama.

'Yes we are.' Sagot naman ng matanda.

'Why is she invited and me, not?' Kunot noong tanong nito.

'Cause you don't like family dinner, for one. Two, you normally says no. So no point in inviting you.' Prangkang sagot ng matanda sa anak.

'Atleast give a courtesy to ask your own son first before inviting an outsider!' Naiinis na sagot ni Edward.

His family loves Dale. Even his sister and brother in law loves her. The only one that remains loyal to him was his niece, Laureen.

And everytime he is with them, all they talk about is his behavior towards Dale.

If not Dale then they talk about him and when he is planning to settle.

Does he like being in the family dinner, No!

But knowing that Dale would be there, makes him want to go.

'If you're answer will be a No then I wouldn't ask you.' Sabi ng ama.

'I wanna go.' Biglang sabi ni Edward sa ama.

'Okay, then you're invited.' Nakangiting sabi ng ama at bumaling kay Dale at binigyan ito ng kindat.

'See you later Mr. Barber!' Pagpapaalam ni Maymay sa matanda.

'I have finished all that I needed to do. Can I leave early?' Tanong ni Maymay kay Edward.

'Do what you please!' Sagot naman ni Edward ng hindi hinaharap si Maymay.

Umuwi muna si Maymay bago ang dinner sa bahay ng mga Barber.

She needed to freshen up.

She checked on her wardrobe and picked a beige colored dress and a blue strapped sandals.
