78. PEACE TALK

Halos wala ng maintindihan si Maymay sa pinaguusapan sa board meeting dahil inaagaw ang atensyon niya ng lalaking tutok na tutok sa kanya.

Unti unting inuusog ni Edward ang upuan niya sa tabi ni Maymay hanggang sa halos wala nang pagitan sa kanilang dalawa.

'When are you free?' He asked her.

'Never.' She said too straight forward.

He gave me his roguish grin and pulled her planner which sits beside her laptop.

'What are you doing?' She asked in a very low tone to avoid getting attention. People were already staring at them.

'Making my appointment with you.' Edward answered with confidence.

Edward was checking all schedules on her planner and grabbed an eraser to wipe everything off.

Edward grabbed a marker and wrote down his name in big, black and bold font that covers almost the entire week.

Maymay was not too bothered with what Edward is doing as Jenny has a copy of her schedule. She was just grinning with the effort that Edward was trying to do.

'Is there something funny, Miss Entrata?'

'Yes.'

'What?'

'My life.' She answered.

She tried to check the people around us as Edward but it looks like they already got bored with the Dale and Edward show.

'You really serious about that Mr. Barber? Jenny has a copy of my schedule. Stop wasting your time.'

'We'll see. I already told you, I would do whatever it takes.' Sagot naman ni Edward.

'Whatever it takes to what?'

'To have you back. To keep you.'

'What if I don't want to be kept?'

'But you do. You do Dale. I just can't understand why you keep fighting me off.' Seryosong sagot ni Edward.

'Not the right place to talk about it.' Umayos ng upo si Maymay dahil nararamdaman na niya kung saan na naman tutungo ang usapan nila.

'Point taken.' Sabi ni Edward.

Natapos ang meeting at isa isa ng naglabasan ang mga tao sa board room.

'Dale, a minute please.' Tawa sa kanya ng kanyang tito Kevin.

'Yes, tito?' Saka ito lumapit sa matanda.

'Your Tita Cathy wanted to talk to you about some things. Wanna come by the house for dinner?' Tanong nito sa kanya.

Tinatantya ni Maymay sa isip niya kung may alam ba ang mga ito sa pangyayari sa kanilang dalawa ni Edward.

'Uhm? An-'

'Why? May plan ba kayo ni Edward tonight?' Tanong nito.

That's it. They don't know. Sa isip isip ni Maymay.

'W-wala naman po tito. About san daw po ba?' Tanong niya.

'Not sure. Maybe about the wedding? She's the most excited i think.' Nakangiting sabi ng matanda.

Halos mamutla naman si Maymay sa nasabi ng kanyang Tito Kevin.

'Hey. Hey you alright? You don't look well.' Sabi nito bigla ng may halong pag aalala.

'O-okay lang po tito. Sorry po. Sige po pakisabi kay Tita Cathy pupunta ako mamaya.' Sabi na lang nito saka lumabas ng board room.

Nagulat siya ng makita niyang nasa labas ng board room nagaabang si Edward.
