One would always argue that true love could never be based on material things. And they would be correct. However, once in a million loves, a little piece of material could be just what that love needs to open the hearts that feel it...

Can disappeared in the hut full of flames. As a man of action above reason, he knew he had to act fast to save the one thing that reminded him of how Sanem's love once grew in his heart. He did not think twice, rushed in, and that was that.

What he did not see was that Sanem watched his every step toward the hut. What he did not hear was her screaming his name in a complete despair. All that he knew, all that he felt deep in his heart, was that if Sanem could never be his, at least he would be able to hold on to her bandana threaded with memories of their love.

Thankful to his lucky stars, he found the bandana and emerged almost unharmed. He hid the bandana, but Sanem saw what he was holding so dear in his hand. And she was speechless. But it was not because she was at a loss for her words. She was speechless because she realized in that tiny speck of time, that she was all that mattered to him. She was his world, both future and past. The broken pieces of her aching heart melted back together in that instant moment and struck her with full force. She noticed he was hurt, and without even a thought put his arm in her hands, and caressed it with care.

Can realized what had happened, she did see the scarf... Though he did not intend to ever reveal to her that he still carried it with him, so close to his heart, he now understood what the bandana meant to her too. Could it really have been so simple, could that be the key? He knew it would take time to convince her to accept him back completely, but somehow his simple act of bravery signified a new beginning for them.

That simple bandana, a plain colorful scarf, meant more to them than all riches of earth combined into one. This tiny piece of material tied knots around their hearts. Whether it was tied around his wounded palm in the abandoned factory, around her wrist at their agency on day to day basis, or around his eyes in Mevkibe's kitchen. That bandana became his as much as hers. Exchanged between its owners time and again, the colors of it spilled deep into their souls. It would never be just a bandana, no, never to them. It became a silent symbol of love, a basis of their visible connection of sorts.

And once Can understood that Sanem realized it too, he smiled from his heart, and as much from his soul. Though his family and friends could not understand why he was at peace while his belongings and the hut had burned down, he knew all too well that this peace that he felt was just what he yearned for, for over a year. And with Sanem still holding his wounded and burned arm, he vowed that he would not waste their chance of love this time around...
