A MAN'S SORROW CUTS DEEPER

Once a brother, always a brother...

It was strange for Can to imagine that a mere year or so ago he considered breaking all ties with Emre. He always believed in one strike was all it took to forever erase a person from his life. If someone was corrupt enough to cross him, the consequences of that were one final draw. But thanks to Sanem and her kindest love, Can realized that there were some things in life worth fighting for. Such was the bond between his brother and him...

Can considered Emre as a brother who never got too close to him. He was polite, prim, and proper. Where Can was a child with a carefree spirit and a rebelious soul, Emre made it a goal in his childhood to make sure he always stepped within the boundaries set by his mother. As a result, Can grew up to become a confident man set in his own rebelious and misterious ways, and Emre became a man of misplaced confidence and an empty place in his heart that he did not know how to fill.

The moment Sanem came to their lifes their universe  turned upside down. Emre, who found comfort in the arms of a Aylin whose character matched Hüma's, could no longer find peace by her side. Sanem's bright light and innocence opened his eyes, and he began to seek that familiar light in Leyla. He realized that the kindness Leyla bestowed upon him was so much more gratifying than Aylin's suffocating claws. He found love, in fact a true love. Can and Sanem's love gave him courage to not be afraid of that love, and gave him courage to become a good and righteous man.

To Can, Emre became more than a brother. He became a companion he never knew he could become. The bond they now shared felt like one of the best things that life could have offered. It was true that a man could change his stars, if he was strong enough to face his past. And even though Emre would never believe him, Can looked up to him in more ways than one. But one thing of all about Emre stuck out in Can's eyes. He had the guts to marry the love of his life. They were one now. For good and for worse. Their union signified a new chapter, a new fresh start at life. And Emre would never believe just how much Can wished he had the courage to have done the same when he had the chance.

The fact that they have come to mean so much to each other brought so much contentment to Can. Being apart from everyone he knew for a year gave him time to contemplate on many friendships he had  in his life, and those he left behind. He thought of Metin, he thought of Akif, and how much he missed them. But he felt a special kind of bond missing from his life then. The bond between him and his brother. They had gown so much closer in the last months before his departure. He could see how much Sanem mattered to Emre. Though Can was unaware of the entire story between Sanem and Emre, he always sensed an unspoken sort of tension between them. And that sort of tension weakened its hold when Emre fell for Layla...

Now that he was back, Can could not help to realize that Emre missed him too. Their bond grew stronger each day. And he finally understood that all familiar saying. Once a brother, always a brother... The fact that Emre was comfortable enough to share his life's troubles with him filled Can with a sense of pride in his brother. Especially when Emre revealed they were considering starting a family of their own. Soon little Divit munchkins would run around them and call out on Emre for father's support. And that, as much as Can tried to avoid the feeling, was one of the feelings he wished for himself too...
