Can lived by a principle that there was no such thing in life as coincidence. He asked Sanem once whether she went out of her way and made her own destiny, or whether she relied on her luck and accepted what came her way. She stated the latter, much to his satisfaction, as he too trusted the flow of life to bring him to what he should experience and needed to live through.
There were moments in this flow of life that brought him lessons, sometimes pleasant and sometimes painful. But everything he went through taught him how to take it all in and rely on his gut instinct. It was this gut instinct feeling that made him keep his peace and stoic calm when Yigit told him that he had proposed to Sanem. Somehow he had found enough self control to make it clear to Yigit that Yigit himself would self-destruct once Sanem would find out what kind of a sick dark character he really was. He had no doubt in his mind that Yigit was possessive from the very beginning, and his basis of treating Sanem as a trophy somewhat resembled the way Polen treated him. For Polen, Can represented a certain level of class status, and she often treated him as a prize and not as a partner. Thinking now rather than acting first, Can did his best to control the blood boiling in his veins. The old Can would have given no thought to what the consequences would have resulted from him making sure that Yigit would have needed more than his cane to get back up from the floor at that moment. But the new Can realized that to get the exact result he was aiming for, it would have needed to be Sanem herself who would figure out how bad Yigit was, and she would need to be the one to make Yigit leave their lives forever.
He sat on the pier in the light of the moon and stars, and searched his mind for any hint of what he needed to do next. As a night owl, he preferred the solitude of a night spent on looking to the stars for guidance. He lied down on the pier and searched the stars for any sign of an answer. Although his eyes were set on several stars and constellations, his mind had not registered what he was seeing. His gaze was blinded the only image that filled his thoughts, and it was that of Sanem. And then he saw Orion's belt. He smiled for he knew of the constellation prior to meeting Sanem, but it had been she who opened his imagination to the story behind those stars. And he smiled. Somehow Sanem managed to change his mind just about every aspect of his life. As he told her, standing on the terrace of his childhood home, she was everywhere to him. She was there when he closed his eyes, when he opened his eyes, when he was at home, when he ran throught the forest. She was his everything to him, and she was everywhere in his mind as well.
He stared at Orion himself. The constellation proved to be a sign of hope for it represented a story that linked the two lovers in the sky for all eternity. However, it proved to also represent the sadness of the story itself, for the belt consisted of three stars, and the star in the middle represented the brother who out of the rage of revenge vowed to keep the lovers apart. His stare wandered over all the stars of the constellation, and stopped at the brightest red-light looking star. It was the star of Betelgeuse, and it shone in an different way from others. And it made him think, how the whole of the story was just as important as all of its parts. He would need a new approach when it came to Sanem. What if what he really needed was not in making sure Yigit was defeated. What if what he really needed was for Sanem to realize just how much love they shared? What if staying close to her would make her remember what they used to mean to one another? What if..
It was that keen state of mind that made Can realize that another whole night had passed with him thinking of only Sanem. A new day had come, which brought with itself a possibility of a new dawn. And he had to admit to the light of the new day that all of his thoughts revolved not around their past, but around their future. Damned if he wasn't Can Divit. Where was his confidence? Where was his quick wit? They were still there, but they needed to be pushed to the surface a bit more. And he realized just how much he would be willing to bet it all on his one chance with Sanem when he realized that she spent her night just a few feet away. She too, Can was beginning to realize, was not willing to let go of his presence just yet...
