Emre always considered Can to be the lucky one. When it came to fame, when it came to success, but especially when when it came to family...
Every day reminded Emre that their family was incomplete. He had a mother, he had a father, and he had a brother. Yet none of those pieces fit together into one puzzle. From a very young age Emre was made aware that his father chose a life without him. And Huma made sure that Emre felt her anger toward Aziz. She reminded Emre in every possible way that Aziz was an angry and spiteful man, who wanted to have nothing to do with his youngest son.
Yet what Huma failed to realize in her selfishness filled with blind fury, was that every son seeks the love of his father. Emre may have seemed to understand his mother's thought process, but deep down inside he yearned for the day that Aziz would embrace him as his son.
As much as Emre envied Can, he also missed him. Huma kept Emre close to her at all times, but as much as she wanted to make sure Emre would only love her, Emre wished with all of his heart that one day he may have a brotherly bond with Can. But not just a brotherly bond, he wished for a true brotherly love.
When Emre grew into a man, his wishes seemed to have come true. He worked in his father's agency. He had a good relationship with his brother. But all that was just superficial, for he had not known what true family really meant. He was never shown that a home could be more than just a house made up of walls and perfectly picked art pieces. That a home could be filled with a smile of a person who cared, a hug when it was needed, and a mother's concerned embrace when the harshness of the world seemed to much to handle alone.
That all changed when he realized what it meant to let go of fears of rejection, and he let his heart love Layla. That single decision became the single most important one that he would ever make. And thanks to Sanem and her unconditional love for Can, Emre gathered all of his courage and proposed to Layla. And he never looked back.
What Emre did not realize was that by asking Layla to accept him as a man, what he really did was ask for her family to accept him as well. He had a past with Sanem, and feared above all that she would deny him. And she had not. Once she accepted him as her sister's beloved and her soon to be brother-in-law, Sanem opened her sisterly heart to him. And for that he would be grateful to her forever. But what surprised him the most, was how Mevkibe and Nihat's love would affect him. Though they were reluctant toward him at first, they realized that Layla's happiness lay in his hands. And from that moment on they bestowed their love on him without any conditions.
And that love overpowered him. Knowing that he now became their son meant the world to him. At one point in time Emre looked at Mevkibe's love for Can and his heart could not help to feel the strings of saddness mixed with the sorrow of jelousy. He wishes with his heart that he too would one day feel Mevkibe's motherly love. That he too would one day be able to reach for her embrace. That he would be able to seek her unshaken support...
The moment when Emre admitted to Mevkibe and Nihat that he did not hold a job felt like a big disapointment. But he did not foresee that admitting his faults to them actually made them love him more. The love he felt filled his heart and warmed all the cold places never before reached by Huma...
And he only hoped that the love he now felt from Mevkibe and Nihat could one day return to his brother Can....
