~Luke's POV~

I sat down at the lunch table on Monday, Ruby sitting down beside me with her tray of food while everyone else sat around us except for Lilith. She wasn't here yet, but that wasn't unusual. She was usually the last one to get here.

My thoughts drifted off to the test that I knew I'd have to take in English class today, but I tried not to focus on it too much. Lilith had been tutoring me for weeks now. There was no way that I wouldn't be able to pass that damn test, or at least that's what I hoped.

Ruby must've noticed my nerves somehow because she placed a hand way too high up on my thigh and leaned closer to me. "You okay?" She asked, her voice quiet. I nodded, brushing her hand off of me despite the fact that I knew that she was only trying to comfort me and distract me from thinking. I just knew it wasn't going to work. I was freaking out right about now about having to take that damn test. What would I even do if I ended up failing? All of that work would've been for absolutely fucking nothing. "Yeah, I'm fine." I muttered dismissively, bouncing my leg anxiously while my finger tapped at the surface of the table. Getting nervous wasn't my thing at all and I really didn't like it.

Lilith arrived at the table maybe five minutes later, showing up out of nowhere with that big smile on her glossy lips. She had her usual face of makeup on, her lashes fluttering innocently as she smiled down at Scarlett, who instantly grinned back. "Hi!" She chirped at her, already beginning to peel off her backpack. Her movement made me focus on her outfit, wondering how the hell this girl wasn't freezing in those clothes. I mean, it was November. How was she still dressing like it was summertime?

Today she had dressed in a white off-the-shoulder dress with an eyelet trim all along the top and bottom of the dress and a high-low hem, as well as little fake pink roses sewn onto the hem of the dress and another at the bottom of the dress. It fell to her thighs and fit her snugly, much like everything else she wore to show off the hourglass figure she had. For shoes, she'd slid on a pair of white ankle-cut boots with pointed toes and a chunky heel. There was a pair of silver earrings in her ears, though I couldn't see what they were from here, and a small, silver chain necklace around her neck with a heart pendant. She had the same really expensive ass ring on as always, the one that costed a grand on its own.

In short, she looked really good, like she always did. Of course, I'd probably never tell her that, but it was true. I might've not liked her very much, but I still had eyes and I wasn't stupid. Lilith was incredibly attractive, but I still didn't like her. She was just another rich girl who spent all of mommy and daddy's money on herself, after all.

Lilith finally sat down in her chair after placing her bag over the back of the chair, scooting up beneath the table. "Guess what?" Scarlett chirped at her excitedly, practically shaking in her seat. Lilith blinked, seeming to be a little bit surprised by her sudden burst of excitement, but she smiled at her. "What?" She asked back. I leaned back in my chair, playing a game on my phone while I silently listened in on their conversation. "That's not guessing." Scarlett sighed, shaking her head before she waved a dismissive hand.

"Whatever." Scarlett muttered to herself, a smile pulling at her lips again. "There's a lock in at the school this weekend, is what I was trying to have you guess." She revealed, grinning at Lilith.

All she got in return was a confused look, Lilith's brows furrowing together as she cocked her head to the side. "Why would that be something that I would guess?" She asked, confused. Still, a smile edged up at her lips, threatening to break out across her face. Scarlett just shrugged, leaning closer to the pretty girl beside her. "Nevermind that. Are you coming?" She pressed hopefully, widening her brown eyes at Lilith.

Scarlett stared at her intently, waiting impatiently for an answer. "But it's on the weekend." Lilith said, a frown on her face. "Yes." Scarlett agreed simply, shrugging. "But are you coming? Everyone else is going!"She continued, gesturing around at all of us to say that we were all going, even me. Somehow, they'd been able to convince me to go too.
