I'd like to dedicate this part to LuLuOnFire who allowed me to use their potion from their book called Junoesque as my own. Thank you very much. Make sure to read their stuff, it's amazing!!
Mikayla put the tip of her quill to the parchment in front of her and began to write down the given: I must not tell lies. She gasped suddenly, pain poking at her hand. She turned her hand over as she finished her first line, which wrote in a shiny red ink. I must not tell lies appeared carved on to the back of her hand, as if etched their with a knife. "Yes?" Umbridge asked with a fake sense of concern. She was grinning at the brunette . "Nothing," Mikayla stated, not wanting to give Umbridge the satisfaction, "That's right. Because you know deep down, you deserve to be punished. Don't you? Go on." she spoke in such a calm tone it terrified Mikayla. She put her head down and began to reluctantly write more lines.
I must not tell lies.
I must not tell lies.
I must not tell lies.
I must not tell lies.
I must not tell lies.
I must not tell lies.
I must not tell lies.
I must not tell lies.Ever line she wrote, it cut deeper and deeper into her hand, to the point that it began to spatter blood onto the floor in small droplets. Darkness fell outside, Mikayla hadn't noticed for a while, engulfed in pain and watery eyes, but she never gave in, she was determined not to give Umbridge the pleasure. "Come here," she said from her desk, it felt like she was there for hours. Her hand was throbbing and burning with pain. The skin around the wound was red and irritated. "Hand." she demanded, holding out her left hand to display 'I must not tell lies.' Etched into her skin, clear as day. A smile spread along Umbridge's face as she saw the brimming tears in the girls eyes, "I think the results are more than satisfactory, I suspect you will no longer be telling lies to the other students." Mikayla shook her head no. "You're dismissed." Mikayla rushed out of the room.
Mikayla's hand stung as she reached Gryffindor tower, ignoring her friends requests as she went to her dormitory, grabbed her potions set and rushed to the girls dormitories on the second floor, as known as Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.
Mikayla was stirring a green looking potion in the girls room, looking through her notes of how to brew a basic healing potion. "Wormwood, check. Bubotuber pus, check. Dittany, check. Dragon Liver, check. Perfect. Now for my own little modifications." Mikayla whispers her thoughts, "Murtlap essence... Lionfish spine... and stewed mandrake leaves." "Hello? Mikayla are you in here?" Mikayla heard Hermione's voice, "Yeah, just give me a minute." Mikayla called back before collecting multiple potion bottles and vials of her potion, before packing up her potions kit and cauldron, hiding them in her famous blue bag. Mikayla straightens our her clothes before opening the stall door, pulling down her sleeves to hide the engravement. "What's up?" Mikayla questioned as she smiles at Hermione, "I was just worried about you. You left a while ago, and didn't say anything about how detention went." Mikayla sighed smiling, "it wasn't too bad I just had to write lines." "Why did you disappear then?" "I needed to be somewhere I wouldn't be disturbed so I could figure somethings out." Hermione nodded understandingly, giving Mikayla a friendly hug to provide comfort but all it really did was make Mikayla feel awful for lying to Hermione.
The pair went to the Great Hall for Dinner after Mikayla admits that she is starving. When they take their seats, Mikayla places her left hand under the table, using her right arm for everything. Hermione seemed a little suspicious before Avery took a seat next to her sister, "Draco told me about you considering quitting the Elites." Avery sounded really upset breaking Mikayla's heart in the process of speaking, "I'm going to see how I feel at the first rehearsal before making my decision." Mikayla spoke softly, "Wait I thought you already decided to quit." Hermione spoke once she swallowed her cottage pie, "That was until I spoke with Malfoy. I promised I'd give it a shot." Hermione was in disbelief at the fact Mikayla would even make a promise with Draco. "Plus there's more reasons for me to stay than to leave." Mikayla shrugged, "Well I can't argue with that." Hermione chuckled, Avery attacked Mikayla with a hug and Mikayla heard a ripple of whispers during it but didn't refrain from hugging Avery back. "I was thinking that every Sunday we'd spend time together, even if it means just studying or doing homework..." Avery pitched, Mikayla smiled at the thought of spending more time with Avery, "Sure, I'd love to." "What about you Hermione?" Mikayla raised her eyebrows, Avery was inviting Hermione to join them on Sunday's clearly trying to make an effort with Mikayla's friends, Mikayla pouted at Hermione pleadingly, "Sure I will if Draco does." Avery nods smiling, "That's a great idea. I'll owl you the details later!" Avery gave Mikayla a quick hug, shared a nod with Hermione. "That went well." Mikayla smiled before following Hermione's gaze to her left hand Mikayla quickly moved it back under the table. "Wait until after dinner. We'll talk in the dorms, where we won't be overheard." Hermione nodded sadly continuing to eat her food as Mikayla starts shovelling it in her mouth.
"I know I lied to you, I just didn't want you to worry." Mikayla spoke quietly, terrified for Hermione's judgement. "The woman's torturing you. You have to report this." Mikayla shook her head no violently, "I just want to forget about the whole experience. And I lied about why I was in the bathroom..." Mikayla spoke grabbing Hermione's attention and peaking her interest. "I was making this..." Mikayla pulled out a vial of the healing potion she made, "What is that?" Hermione asked, "watch." Mikayla opened the vial, pouring a drop of it onto the back of her left hand and rubbing it into her injury, almost like it was chalk on a blackboard, the cut disappeared leaving a very faded scar. Hermione's jaw almost hit the ground and her eyes widened, grabbing Mikayla's left hand and rubbing where the writing had disappeared from. "I've never seen anything like it." Mikayla's cheeks blushed lightly, "It's just a basic healing potion with some added ingredients." Mikayla dismissing it as though it's not that big of a deal, "So you've created your own healing potion?" Mikayla shrugged her shoulders at this question. "As I said it's just a basic one with added ingredients. I haven't heard or seen it before but thought that I might as well try it. I've been doing a lot of research on potions because of the chance of me becoming a healer." Hermione beamed at her friend, "That stuff is amazing. You'd make a great healer. I bet your mum would be really proud." Mikayla's cheeks burned bright red at the compliment.
