The day after the Quidditch match, Harry, Mikayla and Hermione found little chance to tell Ron about Grawp and their new responsibility to take care of him if Hagrid were to be fired. Throughout the morning the only thing discussed to him, by him, or around him had to do with the match. Ron was rather enjoying it though, so they decided not to spoil his fun. Mikayla suggested that they should go outside by the lake and enjoy the sun while they study. Ron agreed to this and so they were finally given a chance to break the news to him.

Under than beech tree by the lake, they would finally stand a chance against being heard by anyone passing by. They all spread their books out on the grass underneath the partial shade of the beech tree, Harry and Mikayla leaning against its trunk whilst Ron and Hermione were propping themselves up on their arms facing Harry and Mikayla. Mikayla closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the bark for a moment, feeling the patches of sun pour through the leaves and hit her skin. She took a deep relaxing breath as she listened to the low rustles of leaves as the weaker branches swayed in the breeze. She opened her eyes again once Ron resumed his Quidditch story.

"Well, I mean, I'd already let in that one of Davies's, so I wasn't feeling that confident, but I dunno, when Bradley came toward me, just out of nowhere, I thought- you can do this! And I had about a second to decide which way to fly, you know, because he looked like he was aiming for the right goal hoop- my right, obviously, his left- but I had a funny feeling that he was feinting, and so I took the chance and flew left- his right, I mean- and- well- you saw what happened," he said rather egotistically. Ron nonchalantly swept his hair back so it looked almost windswept and looked around, possibly for more people to praise him. Mikayla noticed Harry stifle a laugh at the sight before she remembered Harry telling her his dad used to do it back during his Hogwarts days. "And then, when Chambers came at me about five minutes later- what?" Ron stopped his story abruptly, looking at Harry and frowning. "Why are you grinning?" Mikayla's looked over to Harry, he did indeed have a grin on his face, but looked down quickly at his Transfiguration papers and straightened out his face. "I'm not, I'm just glad we won is all." "Yeah," Ron said slowly, grinning as he repeated those two words, "we won. Did you see the look on Chang's face when Ginny got the Snitch right out from under her nose?" "I suppose she cried, did she?" Harry said distractedly. "Well, yeah- more out of temper than anything, though..." Ron's forehead creased slightly. "But you saw her chuck her broom away when she got back to the ground, didn't you?" "Er-" Harry drew a blank and stared at Ron awkwardly.

"Well, actually... no, Ron," Hermione sighed heavily and placed her book down on the grass in front of her. "As a matter of fact, the only bit of the match we saw was Davies's first goal." "You didn't watch?" Ron sounded rather hurt, like a child. "You didn't see me make any of those saves?" "Well - no," said Hermione, placing a sympathetic hand on top of his. "But Ron, we didn't want to leave- we had to!" "Yeah?" said Ron, he was trying to seem calm but his face was growing continuously redder. "How come?" "It was Hagrid," Harry said, trying to reassure Ron. "He decided to tell us why he's been covered in injuries ever since he got back from the giants. He wanted us to go into the forest with him, we had no choice, you know how he gets... Anyway..." Getting through the story was actually pretty quick, they didn't spend more than five minutes catching Ron up.

And in this time Ron's resentment toward them was replaced with complete disbelief. "He brought one back and hid it in the forest?" "Yep," Harry said solemnly, "No," said Ron sternly, as if denying it changes its basis in fact at all, "No, he can't have..." "Well, he has," Mikayla spoke confirming the truth whilst crossed her legs on the grass. "And Grawp's about sixteen feet tall, enjoys ripping up twenty-foot pine trees, and knows me," Hermione laughed, "as Hermy." Ron chuckled nervously, "And me as Micah."

"And Hagrid wants us to...?" "Teach him English, yeah," Harry nodded. "He's lost his mind," Ron shook his head softly. "But hey, look at the bright side, Professor Potter will be back in action," Mikayla said, trying to make some light of the situation. She got a downward aimed smile out of Harry, but Hermione stayed in her book and the wheels in Ron's head were still turning. "Well Mikayla has somehow got through to Grawp already. She got him to say our names and to put us down." Hermione told Ron, "put yous down?" Ron questioned and Mikayla nodded. "He's a bit grabby." Hermione and Mikayla lightly chuckled.

Hermione decided to respond to Ron's question about Hagrid's loss of mind, "Yes, yes, I'm starting to think he has lost his mind. But unfortunately, he made us promise." "Well, you're just going to have to break your promise, that's all," said Ron firmly. "I mean, come on... We've got exams and we're about that far," he spaced his thumb and pointer finger about a millimeter apart, "from being chucked out as it is. And anyway... remember Norbert? Remember Aragog? Have we ever come off better for mixing with any of Hagrid's monster mates?" "Wow... I wonder how Norbert is doing," Mikayla turned back to face Ron. "I know, it's just that- we promised," Hermione closed her book with her finger holding her page.

"Well," Ron sighed, turning away as to not face Hermione dead on, because even he couldn't easily believe what he was going to say, "Hagrid hasn't been sacked yet, has he? He's hung on this long, maybe he'll hang on till the end of term and we won't have to go near Grawp at all." "It's a nice thought, Ron, but how much of a chance does Hagrid have left, really? Umbridge is trying to come up with an adequate reason to fire him since he arrived back from his trip." Mikayla reminded them all, they all just nodded in response. "Anyways" Mikayla claps her hands together before standing up, "I'm heading to the library to help Neville with his potions theory." Mikayla smiled as she picked up her bags before waving her friends goodbye.

Mikayla searched the library from the door, spotting Neville with a pile of books in front of him, waving her over. Mikayla rushed over to the fellow Gryffindor, taking a seat next to him and pulling out her Potions notes. "Ok Neville, you can get an Owl just on the theory part of potions. We're going to focus on the theory as it may help you with the practical, ok?" Neville nodded taking out his own notes, the first thing Neville noticed was the height difference between the pairs piles of notes. "I like to be thorough." Mikayla spoke as she saw the discomfort on Neville's face about the contrast. "Why don't we start with Draught of Peace?" Neville nodded, whilst pulling out his notes to reference the potion, Mikayla followed his lead. "Alright Neville, so Draught of Peace relieves anxiety and takes 90 minutes to brew. Can you name three of the ingredients of the potion?" Neville nodded, "there's powdered moonstone, syrup of Hellebore and powdered unicorn horn." Mikayla smiled nodding, "and can you give me one characteristic for each?" Nodded drummed his fingers on the desk, "Moonstone is also called Wishing Stone, unicorn horn is white and syrub of hellebore is poisonous." "Well done Neville."
