On the Train

The journey home on the Hogwarts Express the next day was eventful in several ways. Firstly, Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle, who had clearly been waiting all week for the opportunity to strike without teacher witnesses, attempted to ambush Harry halfway down the train as he made his way back from the toilet. The attack might have succeeded had it not been for the fact that they unwittingly chose to stage the attack right outside a compartment full of DA members, who saw what was happening through the glass and rose as one to rush to Harry's aid. By the time Ernie Macmillan, Hannah Abbott, Susan Bones, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Anthony Goldstein and Terry Boot had finished throwing a wide variety of hexes and jinxes the three Slytherins looked like slugs squished into Hogwarts uniforms.

Harry and Ron joined the others in their compartment after the ordeal, Ginny was doing a quiz in the Quibbler, Hermione's nose was glued to the prophet, Neville was stroking his Mimbulus Mimbletonia which has quadrupled in size since the start of the year, Mikayla was petting Selene on her lap as Avery slept on the blonde's shoulder. Mikayla slid herself and Avery closer to the window to give Harry room to take a seat. "Ron, can you put Selene back in her cage and hand me down Helios?" Mikayla questioned, gesturing with her freehand that she didn't want to wake Avery. Ron nodded, handing Helios to Mikayla as quick as humanly possible. "I haven't seen you in ages." She whispers to the cat smiling, the last time Mikayla saw Helios was Christmas break back in second year, he was no longer a kitten but a beautiful black and white cat. "You'll have to keep an eye on Alina, make sure her and Helios don't get any ideas." Mikayla nudged Ginny with her foot making the redhead chuckle, "their kittens would be so cute." Ginny whined making Mikayla laugh, as she laughed her shoulders shook and she accidentally woke up Avery.

"Your friends tried to attack Harry." Ron informed them, as he looked at Avery, "who did what?" Avery furrowed her eyebrows at the redhead, everyone turned to look at her in surprise and confusion. "Oh, since what happened in the Ministry, I've decided to ditch Malfoy, Pansy, Crabbe and Goyle, they're proud that their parents are Death Eaters and those aren't the type of people I want to associated with." Avery informed this, Mikayla could help but smile at the news. "So who are you friends with now in your house?" Hermione questioned, Avery sighed with a smile, "Daphne Greengrass, Tracey Davis, Theodore Nott, and Blaise Zabini. There parents are the usual pure-blood supremacy but they don't believe in their families values. And then of course there's Brian, and well you know his deal." Avery informs them, Mikayla smiled glad that Avery had finally found herself a group of friends that are not ok with muggleborns being killed. "Anyway, thanks to Ernie, Justin, Susan, Hannah and Terry, Harry was unscathed." Ron informed them, Mikayla smiled at the news, "DA forever." She beamed, they all agreed with her words with a 'whoop' or a 'hell yeah'.

Cho and Marietta passed by the compartment, Mikayla watched as Cho blushed before hurrying away from them. "What's going on with you and her, anyways?" Ron questioned, Helios was mewing in Mikayla's lap happily as she tuned into the conversation between Ron and Harry, "nothing," Harry spoke truthfully. "I heard she's going out with someone else now," Hermione added tentatively, Harry just shrugged at this information. "You're well out of it, mate, I mean, she's quite good-looking and all that, but you want someone a bit more cheerful." Ron spoke forcefully, "she's probably cheerful enough with someone else," Harry spoke indifferently.

"Who's she with now anyway?" Ron questioned Hermione but Ginny was the one who answered, "Michael Corner." Ron's eyes widened and his skin paled slightly, "Michael- but, you were going out with him." Mikayla scoffed, "Ginny ditched him after the quidditch match against Ravenclaw, he got all whiny about losing." Mikayla informed him, Ron sighed in content, telling Ginny that he never really like Michael, which is no secret to anyone, and that he hopes she picks a better suitor next time. "Well, I've chosen Dean Thomas, would you say he's better?" Ginny questioned causing Ron to accidentally flip the chessboard he and Harry were using shock as he yelled "WHAT?" The girls fell into a fit of laughter at Ron's over reaction, "Ron maybe you and Ginny shouldn't talk about relationships..." Avery suggests, Ron nodded as he stayed pale. "I think that's for the best," Mikayla agreed with her sister, before Avery took Helios off her sister, "it's time for us to get ready to get off." Avery informed the group, pointing mostly at Mikayla.

When the train pulled into the stations, the group of six grabbed their things, the ticket inspector signalled to the foursome to go ahead through the magical barrier between platforms nine and ten, there was a group there to greet them. Moody, Tonks, Lupin, and all the Weasleys except Charlie and Percy. "Fred! George!" Mikayla beamed giving them a tight hug hello making the twins chuckle, "missed us that much, love?" Fred questioned, "it was actually quite peaceful once you left." Mikayla winked giving Fred a kiss on the cheek. "We got your letter about maybe working in the shop..." Fred informed the blonde, "it was a tough decision but we've decided that we'll need all the help we can get now that school done." Mikayla beamed at George's words. "Thank you both so much." George and Fred's faces became stern, "we do however have a problem with how much you want to work with us for..." Mikayla furrowed her eyebrows looking at the twins completely confused, "I said I'd do it for free..." Mikayla jogged their memory, "that's the problem!" Fred informed her, "we don't be in free labour." George added to explain the point further, Mikayla nodded understandingly. "Well that's all up to you two, since I have no work experience."
