Into The Light (Golden Trio Era) {2}

Pre-Celebration

"I can't believe my sister's a genius!" Avery chimed pulling Mikayla into a hug, Mikayla excepted the hug but she had fallen quiet. "What's wrong?" Ron looked at her, worry filled in his eyes, "just a little overwhelmed is all. I never expected to do so well." Mikayla admitted, she actually felt guilty for not having a bigger more excited reaction. "How about a family dinner to celebrate everyone's success?" Molly questioned, everyone agreed to having a little celebration.

Mikayla made her way out to the pond, mad at herself for lying to everyone for her silence. The truth is Mikayla remembered that opening her OWLs, in a perfect world, would be with her parents, and she couldn't help but feel a little upset that she didn't get that moment. "You're a terrible liar, you know." Mikayla jumped at the sudden voice, to see Hermione, Ron, and Harry, looking back at her. "I just wish they could've been here, ya know and see if they'd be proud of me." Mikayla sent them a sad smile with a shrug, before being wrapped up in a group hug. "They'd be barmy if they weren't proud of you, M." Ron whispered, "and they are here..." Hermione started, "because you're here." Harry concluded, Mikayla chuckled sadly.

"Who should tell her?" Harry questioned after thirty minutes of foursome laughing and just enjoying each others company, "tell me what?" Mikayla sat up looking at her friends, who were still laying on the ground looking up at the clouds. "That mum invited Tonks and Lupin to come celebrate your OWL results." Ginny informed the blonde as she joined the group along with Avery, both lying on the ground, Mikayla sighed at the news and laid back down. "Cloud-gazing?" Avery questioned the group, everyone hummed in response. The group laid in silence for about 30 seconds before Mikayla and Ron started giggling. "What are you two laughing at?" Hermione questioned, "sorry, group silence makes me giddy." Mikayla chuckled as she was struggling to hold back her laughter. "Then how the hell do you always win Hide and Seek?" Ginny asked, "my competitiveness outweighs my need for giggles." Mikayla shrugged, resting her head on Avery's shoulder.

"It's nice out here, I get why you like to relax here." Harry mumbled to Mikayla as he rested his head on her shoulder. "She does this thing where she sits with her eyes closed under the Oak tree and listens to nature, it's really peaceful. She showed me once." Ron told the group. Hermione shivered slightly from the crisp summer breeze, Ron quickly pulled off his jumper offering it to Hermione to cover up, Mikayla and Harry share a knowing smile with one another before the group continues to Cloud-gaze. "What do you think this year's surprise is going to be?" Avery questioned the foursome, they all shrugged, "I was kind of wishing for an uneventful year this year, but with Voldemort back and out in open, I have a feeling my wish won't come true." Mikayla admits to the group, "whatever it is though, we'll get through it together like always." She adds at the end of her words, Harry, Ron and Hermione hummed in agreement of Mikayla's words. The group fell into silence once again.

"Harry, do you think Professor Slughorn will be a good teacher?" Hermione questioned after about 10 minutes of quiet, "dunno, he can't be worse than Umbridge, can he?" Harry questioned the group. "I know one person that is worse than Umbridge..." Ginny mumbled, "Ginny, leave Fleur alone, she's just trying her best to get to know the family she's marrying into, and you nor mum are giving great impressions." Ginny mumbled some curse words in response to Avery's words. Mikayla was just happy she wasn't the only female that was on Fleur side, all the boys seem to like Fleur and have definitely been more welcoming to her than Ginny and Mrs Weasley, and now Hermione doesn't like her, the poor girl is just trying to get to know her fiancé's family and the women in the house, won't even give her the chance. 

"I know you think that Bill can do better but have you ever considered why he decided to propose to Fleur?" Mikayla questioned Ginny, "because she makes him happy..." Ginny mumbled hating the honestly in her words, "and isn't that all that matters?" Mikayla pushed furthered, "fine, I'll be nicer to Phlegm, I mean Fleur, but if she goes too far I have the right to hate her, deal?" "Deal." Mikayla and Ginny shake hands. "Now, let's go ready for the party!" Avery spoke excitedly, jumping up and pulled the girls off the ground.

"I don't know what to wear!" Hermione groaned and collapsed onto her bed giving up, Mikayla chuckled as she tied her hair into a ponytail, "Okay! I got the perfect outfit for you." Mikyla began to pull out pieces of clothing, handing them over to Hermione. "How do you do that?" Mikayla shrugs at Ginny's question, "experience?" Mikayla tilted her head at her own suggestion, "I just get clothes I guess." Mikayla chuckles as Avery pulled out her own outfit. "Ok so Molly told me that she hasn't told anyone what results we've got, so we'll have to announce it to our guests once they all arrive." Mikayla's jaw dropped as she applied her makeup. "Not actual results right? Just how many OWLs we got." Mikayla questioned Hermione, who shrugged and told the blonde they'll have to wait and see. 

Mikayla grumbled unhappily, "come on M, you literally couldn't have done any better than 10 Outstandings." Avery told the blonde, also telling her to be happy she did so well. "Technically she could've gotten 12 if she did Muggle Studies and Divination." Hermione argues, causing all the girls to laugh lightly. "Ok, I'll be happy and smiling when I announce my results, but I limiting the fuss to 3 minutes." Mikayla warned, the girls shook on it agreeing to Mikayla's demands.

"Oh Merlin, we have fifteen minutes to finish getting ready!" Ginny squealed looking up at the clock, Mikayla quickly sat in front of Avery, who agreed to do her hair, the brunette began to straighten Mikayla's hair, before dividing it in half and did a plait using the top half of Mikayla's hair. "Thanks Av!" Mikayla quickly stripped, pulling in a daisy bodysuit and a yellow skirt, she paired her outfit with yellow suede knee high boots. Ginny wore a red floral top with a matching skirt and a pair of black shoes. Avery wore a yellow dress with white flowers on it, she wore black dock Martin's with it. Hermione wore a blue bodysuit paired with a plaid skirt and black knee high wedged boots.

All the girls looked incredibly gorgeous, they took a picture together, "I hope I get a party when I get my OWLs next year." Mikayla smiled at Ginny, "I'll make sure you do." The girls looked at each before nodding. Mikayla, Avery and Hermione, picked up their OWL result sheets, folded them before Mikayla and Hermione linked arms, Ginny and Avery linked up and the four girls make their way down stairs.

"Oh you all look so beautiful!" Molly chimes pulling all the girls into a hug as they reached the last step of the stairs. "The boys are setting up the table outside, I was hoping you four will help me with putting icing on the cupcakes." Molly admitted once she let them out of her death grip hug, "of course Mum." Avery smiled at Molly, "Fleur, would you like to help as well?" Ginny asked the French girl with a friendly smile, Fleur didn't hide her surprise of Ginny's sudden warmth towards her, "I would love to!" Fleur chimed happily. All the girls pulled on aprons, wanting to keep their clothes safe from the baked goods.

Mikayla and Hermione worked together on icing 12 cupcakes with blue icing and chocolate sprinkles. Ginny and Fleur worked together icing 12 cupcakes with green icing and silver sprinkles. Avery helped Molly with icing 12 cupcakes with red icing and golden sprinkles. Then all six girls worked on the last 12 cupcakes, icing them yellow and putting black sprinkles on them. "Great work girls!" Molly chimed once the girls helped clean off the counter. Fleur washed the dishes, Mikayla dried them and Ginny put them away, as Avery put the cupcakes out of the way for Hermione to wipe down the counter.
