The kids were back to school and Mikayla, Ron and Hermione were in the library trying to get some revision done. They told Harry to meet them there after his Occlumency lesson with Snape. The three friends didn't speak as they revised other than Mikayla helping out Ron with some spellings and definitions, Hermione was waiting patiently for her news paper to arrive, but soon Parvati arrive it in her hand saying that a owl dropped it outside and that Hermione's owes her five knuts because the owl went to take her hand off if she didn't pay for it. Hermione apologised and paid Parvati back, who spots Mikayla, "I almost didn't recognise you as a blonde again Black." Mikayla chuckled smiling at her and asking her how was her break, "ok, my sister was on my nerves a lot this Christmas but you all about the annoyance of siblings," she sent daggers towards Ron before leaving. Mikayla and Hermione chuckled lightly at the girls comment, it safe to say the Patil twins haven't forgiven Ron and Harry for the Yule Ball fiasco. Seconds later Harry arrived taking a seat next to Mikayla and melting slightly into his chair.
"How did it go?" Hermione asked under her breath when he got settled. "Are you all right?" "I'm fine," he brushed it off, it wasn't something he really wanted to go into detail with to other people. Mikayla wasn't entirely sure if he was alright, just telling them what they wanted to hear, she felt that maybe she should talk to Harry alone and see if he'll open up to her. "Listen... I've just realized something..." He explained to them about the corridor he'd been seeing and how he figured out where it was from. "So... so, are you saying..." Ron said, leaning farther into their little circle, "that the weapon- the thing You-Know-Who's after- is in the Ministry of Magic?" "In the Department of Mysteries, it's got to be," Harry added, whispering as lowly as he could. "Yeah it is the Department of Mysteries." Mikayla mumbled lowly, her three friends heads shot towards her, but once she looked like she wasn't going to elaborate on her discovery that it was the Department of Mysteries, Harry decided to speak up, "I saw that door when your dad took me down to the courtrooms for my hearing and it's definitely the same one he was guarding when the snake bit him." "Of course," Hermione breathed out in sort of a tone of unhappy realization. "Of course what?" Ron asked, annoyed almost. "Ron, think about it... Sturgis Podmore was trying to get through a door at the Ministry of Magic... It must have been that one, it's too much of a coincidence!" "How come Sturgis was trying to break in when he's on our side?" Ron quizzed. "Well, I don't know," Hermione said in defeat. "That is a bit odd..." Ron replied. "Come on guys, Voldemort is known for his use of the Imperius curse, I bet he was trying to get Sturgis to steal the weapon for him, so he'd take the blame." Mikayla's voice was quiet and full of assumptions that sounded like the only possibility.
"So what's in the Department of Mysteries?" Harry asked, directing the question at Ron. "Has your dad ever mentioned anything about it?" "I know they call the people who work in there 'Unspeakables', because no one really seems to know what they do in there... Weird place to have a weapon..." "It's not weird at all, it makes perfect sense," Hermione went on. "It will be something top secret that the Ministry has been developing, I expect-" "Harry, are you alright?" Mikayla interrupted her. Harry was rubbing his forehead with such force she knew he was in pain, she couldn't know really how hard Snape was on him during the lessons. "Yes... I'm fine..." He lowered his hands, she wondered if maybe it was his scar that was causing him pain. "I just feel a bit... I don't like Occlumency much..." "We should get back to the common room, for everyone's sake." Hermione said, still trying to be quiet. It was a pleasant idea, Mikayla was hoping the fire and the big chairs would be of some comfort to Harry, but the common room was roaring when they entered. Fred and George had drawn a crowd while displaying the effects of their newest joke shop item. "Headless Hats!" announced George, Fred held a fluffy, feather plastered pink hat out and waved it around for all to catch a glimpse of. "Two Galleons each- watch Fred, now!" Fred popped it onto his head, smirking. Nothing happened for a moment other than him looking like an idiot, but suddenly his head and their hat vanished. A few girls shrieked, but the rest roared with more laughter. "And off again!" George said with the charisma of a salesman. Fred's head popped back into sight, they received a room full of applause. The other three had already gotten out their homework to start, Mikayla didn't bother because she knew she couldn't do it right now. "How do those hats work, then?" Hermione asked, being drawn away from her parchment by the commotion Fred and George had going. "I mean, obviously it's some kind of Invisibility Spell, but it's rather clever to have extended the field of invisibility beyond the boundaries of the charmed object... I'd imagine the charm wouldn't have a very long life though..." No one wanted to discuss conceptual magic with her though, Mikayla only slumped back in her chair.
"I'm going to have to do this tomorrow," Harry sighed, pushing his books away. "Well, write it in your homework planner then!" said Hermione encouragingly. "So you don't forget!" Mikayla snickered, Ron and Harry exchanged a look, but Hermione just looked pleased with herself. The planner offered encouraging phrases as Harry scribbled down his work in it, Hermione beamed at her gift like a proud mother. "I think I'll go to bed," Harry gave up, they all muttered 'goodnight's' as he stuffed his belongings into his bag and made his way out of the common room. Mikayla watched him dodge George trying to top him with one of his hats.
Mikayla decided to get up and go over to Ginny who was sat near the twins laughing and applauding, "hey Ginny." Mikayla smiles plopping down beside Ginny on the ground, "you ok?" Ginny asks, Mikayla catches Fred's eye as he offers the hat for others to try, a small smile pulls onto Mikayla's face, "I'm alright, how was your first day back? Umbridge didn't try anything did she?" Ginny shook her head no, giving Mikayla a suspicious look before looking over at her older brother. "Miss Black, do you care to try a hat?" George asks in his classic salesman's voice, Mikayla looked unsure but Ginny gave her a little nudge and told her to try it out. "Okay Georgie." Mikayla spoke childishly, standing between the twins, "Mikayla!" Hermione spoke loudly from her seat in shock at her giving into the twins products, "what? I'm not a prefect." Mikayla shrugged her shoulders before Fred placed the hat on her head, Mikayla saw as people looked at her headless self in awe, it felt kinda funny, bearable but slightly nauseating. She made a note to self to talk to the twins about it once they were done with advertising it. She took the hat off, her head reappeared and she handed the hat to Fred. Mikayla saw that Seamus was looking over at them, they still weren't on the greatest of terms over the whole fight in September.
