None of the fifth-years talked very much at breakfast the next day. Parvati was practising incantations under her breath, Hermione had her nose in Achievements in Charming so fast that her eyes appeared to blur. Ron was stress eating, grunting and groaning a lot as he ate, Neville was shaking so badly he kept dropping his knife and fork. "You're going to do great Neville trust me." Mikayla smiled steadying his hands. Mikayla suddenly felt arms wrapped around her, she slowly spun around to see Avery. "Hey sis, good luck today." Mikayla whispered as she held Avery in a bear hug, "thanks, I would wish you luck, but exams are when you're in your element." Mikayla laughed, offering Avery a seat next to her at the Gryffindor table which Avery accepted. Hermione, Ron, Harry, Neville, Dean, Seamus, Lavender and Parvati all turned to the Slytherin sitting at their table. "I just wanted to wish you all luck. Remember all you have to do is believe in yourself and do your best." Every smiled and one by one began offering Avery luck, "I'll need it. Come find me before dinner yeah? So we can talk about the exam. Hermione you can come two, I'm sure Ron and Harry won't listen or want to talk about them." Hermione smiled out of delight at the gesture Avery, "see ya sis." "Bye Av." Mikayla waved her sister away. "Avery's right, we don't want to hear any post-exam reflections." Ron told the girls who laughed lightly nodding.

Once breakfast was over, the fifth and seventh years milled around in the Entrance Hall while the other students went off to lessons, Mikayla wished Lee and Alicia luck on their exams. At 9:30, they were called forward class by class to re-enter the Great Hall, that had been rearranged to hundreds on small desks facing the staff table at the other end of the hall. McGonagall stood facing them, watching them as they all took their seats until the room fell silent. "You may begin." Her voiced echoed through the hall, as she turned over an enormous hourglass on the desk beside her. There was also spare quills, ink bottles and rolls of parchment on said desk.

Mikayla flipped over her paper, she could feel her heart thumping so she took a deep breath before writing her name on the top of her answer parchment. She read the first question, a) Give the incantation and b) describe the wand movement required to make objects fly. Mikayla smiled, before labelling her page and writing her answer.

The longer the exam went on the harder the questions got, Mikayla was happy that she wore a watch, so she could keep track of the time. Mikayla took another deep breath before tackling the thirteenth question. a) Identify the type of spell which causes "bogies" to turn into bats and attack the victim and b) name the creator of the spell c) list some moments that this spell has been used. Mikayla spent a few minutes trying to remember, some occasions when the Bat-Bogey hex was used in the past.

The foursome were walking back out of the Great Hall after the exam. Hermione was asking her friends questions about the exams but Mikayla completely tuned out not hearing a word her friend said. She put her exam paper into her bag, and began looking at the mixture of relieved, worry and happiness on people's faces. "Hermione." Ron spoke sternly grabbing Mikayla's attention, "we've been through this before... we're not going through every exam afterwards with you. It's bad enough doing them once." Mikayla chuckled at Ron's forwardness. "Why don't you mark the questions you want to discuss during lunch and then you can talk to me and Avery about it after the practical." Mikayla suggests, "that's a great idea." Harry and Hermione say simultaneously making Mikayla laugh again. The boys began talking about food and Mikayla's stomach growled as if to respond to their conversation as 'me too.'

The Great Hall door opens two minutes later, back to normal for Lunch. Students started filing out of classrooms whilst the fifth and seventh years all pushed their way to their tables first. Apparently exams makes kids extremely hungry, maybe it's all the concentrating and writing that starves them or maybe it's the stress and desperate need of comfort. "Ron can you pass me that plate of sausages?" Mikayla asked, and Ron came through with the request. Mikayla made herself two white bread sandwiches with sausage and ketchup. She makes herself a cup of tea as well, putting two sugars in causing Hermione to look at her weird, "you never put sugar in your tea." Hermione states, Mikayla agrees with her, "I need the sugar, or I'll pass out during our practicals." Hermione nodded understandingly before following Mikayla's actions. Mikayla inhaled her food like she was a vacuum, a hungry vacuum at that, she drank her tea slowly as she practiced the Levitation Charm with her spoon.
