The Sentence and Surprise

When Mikayla took her seat once again, Avery pulled her into a hug, "you knew he would snap if you said it didn't you." Mikayla puts her index finger to her lips telling Avery to shush before winking at the brunette, a small smile grew on Avery's face, the pair tuned back into what was Dumbledore was saying, "We'll take a five minute recess whilst the jury decide on Mr O'Brien's sentence." The group of sixteen all rose and made their way out to the corridor, Mikayla hands bottles of water and lunch she had made for everyone. "I can't believe you made so much food." Charlie commented as he opens up his lunchbox containing; a chicken salad sandwich, a pear and his favourite chocolate bar. "Do you not remember Eygpt? She made this much food everyday." Bill reminded his younger brother, "she likes to be prepared for anything." Fred adds, whilst Mikayla shook her head in disbelief, "she'd also like if you all stopped talking about her when she's right here." Mikayla spoke about herself in third person, "yeah, you talk about her enough Fred when she's not around." George grins lopsided at his brother before sending Mikayla a wink as Fred chokes on his apple, Mikayla turned her back on the twins to hide her blush and acted like she was sneezing, "excuse me," she smiled as she turned back to the group.

Mikayla and Charlie were discussing the poaching of Dragons and how the problem could be stopped, a lot of wizards have been killing dragons to make flame-retardant clothes and selling the clothes for a fortune. Charlie was suggesting maybe a tracking law that not only would they be able to track down poached Dragons but also survey all species of dragon's to prevent endangerment or extinction. Mikayla quite liked his idea and was suggesting different ways of making his suggestion a reality, "we could do like a colour coded or number coded system where each dragon race is a different colour or has a certain sequence of numbers." Charlie agreed with Mikayla's thinking, before informing her of an extra idea he had, "We could also try a heart monitoring thing, and when a dragon is under distress that it sends an sos and location to nearby handlers so that they go and maybe save the dragon from being poached." Mikayla thought Charlie was full of great ideas when it came to the preservation of Dragon's, his work them definitely contributed to him being so protective of the species, "I'd like to pick your brain about it more, after all this." Mikayla gestures towards the courtroom, "It's been 4 minutes, we should get back to our seats." Arthur spoke up looking at his watch, they all agreed with him, heading into the courtroom.

Everyone sat in different seats this time around, Fred sat at the end, Mikayla next to him, Ron next to her, Avery next to him, Ginny next to Avery, Bill next to Ginny, Fleur on the other side of him, Charlie next to Fleur and George on the other end allowing all the others to sit in the row behind them. Ron scooped up each of the girls' hands, providing them some support as they waited for everyone to get seated, Mikayla's leg was bouncing again out of nervous, but it soon stood still once Fred placed his hand on her knee, caressing it gently with his thumb. She looked down at his hand with a small smile tugging on her lips, she looked up into Fred's eyes, "thank you." she whispered just before Dumbledore call the court to order.

Amelia Bones handed Dumbledore over the jury's decision of a sentence, once Dumbledore does a once over of what he was reading, he whispered something to Mrs Bones which earned him a nod from her. "The court has come to an agreement on your penalties Mr O'Brien..." Dumbledore took a deep breath, his eye flickered towards the girls, "A sum of 17,000 Galleons shall be given to Miss Avery O'Brien, A sum of 23,000 Galleons to be given to Miss Mikayla Black and you shall serve a life sentence in Azkaban prison." Dumbledore's wooden gavel hit the wooden block on his stand calling court to finish and Fergal to be dragged out of it by four Auror's back to Azkaban. Mikayla was confused as to why her and Avery were given money, Avery looked at the blonde for answer but saw that she too was lost. "Come on, we should get out of here before the press try to swarm you two." Moody stands up, gesturing to Mikayla and Avery. Mikayla took a deep breath mentally preparing to walk through Level Nine again to get to the elevator, but they were pulled into Dumbledore's office instead.

Mikayla sat silently staring at the ground as Dumbledore explained that will be Flooing from his office in order to protect the girls, "why is he to give us money?" Avery questioned Dumbledore, "It's an apology fee and to go towards counselling if you shall decide to seek a professional to work through your trauma." Mikayla shook her head, "why did Mikayla get more money than Avery?" Ron questioned, but Mikayla knew the answer, "I've got more trauma to work through," she sneered in a whisper still not looking up from the ground. "well yeah, so once Fergal's sentence is sent to Gringotts, they'll send a representative to the Burrow with the money." Dumbledore explains, Mikayla cleared her throat, "shall we get going then?" she asked as she slapped her thighs as she starting standing up.

When she finally raised her gaze, she saw that the whole group are staring at her with wide eyes, "what?" she asked before feeling something being poked into her back, "we're looking for something and we think Black might have it in her bag, you're going to let us search her and walk out of here unharmed." Mikayla's body froze as if she was in a body-binding curse, at the sound of a deep voice behind her. "Why you-" Moody went to advance towards Mikayla but the man behind pulled her towards him so that her back was against his chest and his wand had moved from her back to her throat, Moody froze as Mikayla gulped in fear, he then took a few steps back to show whoever was holding her him complying to his wishes...
