You snapped your fingers again and again but nothing seemed to work. It was pointless to even bother to try to summon a small flame since none of your powers worked since you had practically drained yourself the other day. Usually, you would've been fine within a day but they weren't back this time.

Jean stood back and watched the rest of the students controlling their powers. They were all clearly ready to advance to the next lesson but you seemed to be the only exception. As she made her way to you, she dismissed them by quietly letting them know that they could head to their dorms. She didn't want for you to think you could go as well since you were always the first one to go.

"What's going on?"

She asked as you moved on to see if you could summon something else.

"Nothing."

When you turn around to face her, she just raised an eyebrow at you.

"What do you mean nothing?"

You looked over her shoulder to find that everyone had left.

"Literally nothing. Guess someone forgot to let me know that class was over."

After bending down to grab your backpack, you began to make your way to campus. Only for Jean to completely immobilize you and turn you around.

"God, I hate it when you do that. What do you want?"

"Yeah, well it's helpful with you. You really don't like to stick around. I just want to help. You seem to be having some trouble with your powers."

"I'm not having trouble with them."

Jean crossed her arms and let you fall to the ground. It annoyed you but you didn't say anything as you dusted yourself off and stood back up.

"I didn't see Chris using his powers to put out whatever you set on fire."

"You set someone's hair on fire one time and everyone brings it up."

You muttered under your breath

"You know what I mean, (y/n)."

"Okay, fine. My powers just haven't come back after what happened two nights ago."

"Why didn't you say anything? We could've helped you figure out what happened to them."

"I assumed they would come back like always. They just didn't come back this time."

Jean sighs and nods.

"We'll figure it out. That's if you'll let me in."

"What choice do I have."

X

"You need to clear your mind, (y/n). I can't get into your mind until you let me."

"I'm trying! It's just hard."
