Lucy took a deep breath to stop herself from yelling at you for yet again disobeying orders. What mattered was that the mission had been successful despite the fact that you did whatever you wanted after she had specifically given you instructions to follow.
"Agent (l/n), can I talk to you for a second?"
You hand one of the other agents the handcuffed alien and make your way over to her.
"Is this about the mission? I saw an opportunity and had to take it. I'm sorry for disobeying orders, Director."
Lucy pinched the bridge of her nose before shaking her head.
"You were in the wrong for disobeying them but that's not what I wanted to talk to you about."
Lucy pulled you to the side so no one could overhear.
"I'm taking the weekend off to spend it with my mother."
You raised your eyebrow at her, unsure of why she was even telling you this.
"I don't understand."
"I'm telling you this because I need you to come with me and pretend to be my girlfriend."
You stare at her in shock. This was unexpected.
"I'm sorry what."
"Long story short, my mom thinks that we're dating. She thought all the complaining that I did to her about you was because we couldn't make our relationship work with me being your director and all."
"Director Lane, I had no idea you liked talking about me so much. If I didn't know any better, I would assume you had a crush on me."
Lucy gives you an irritated expression, making you quickly apologize.
"I'm sorry. I just had to. I'll take the weekend off to join you on your lie to your mother.
She seemed like she wanted to say something but just shock her head and began to walk off.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow at 0500 hours"
You just groan loudly, not happy about that fact that you were going to be waking up early when you didn't even have work.

The trip to Mrs. Lane's house wasn't too bad. You spend the majority of your time drinking coffee as Lucy drilled into you everything that you had to know about her. You weren't even paying attention since you were aware most of what she was telling you.
"Are you listening to me? This is important! If you weren't to take this seriously, you should've just stayed back in National City."
"Lucy, I got this. You've been lecturing me since you picked me up. Can we just spend the last 20 minutes in silence before we have to pretend to be in love?"
